Mack was easily the worst acquisition this team has made in the past 4 seasons. That sugar rush wore off quickly and this team was never the same. He is the primary reason this team is in football hell.

Nagy came into Chicago coaching aggressively with a bunch of gimmicks thrown in. (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky was clearly raw, but he still had success with that approach. Because of a dominant defense, Nagy decided to go conservative and lean on the defense to win games. That very likely stunted the growth of the offense. The defense has almost NEVER been able to hold up at the end of a close game in the past 4 years.

Without Thieving Mack, I doubt that the defense would have been as good early in 2018. Fangio is probably still here, and the offense wouldn't have become predictable and conservative. The Bears also would have had 2 additional 1st round picks to use on offensive players, a 3rd round pick and a shit load of money to spend on free agents.

Come on man.

His lack of production is definitely a problem. But it is not the problem, not even close to THE problem.

Don't resist it. Think a little bit more about the effect he's had on this team. From fans expectations, draft capital, free agent $$, departure of a GREAT coordinator, identity of the team and his pedestrian production.

I recently read here it’s literally all Nagy’s fault

I've been off the Mack train since the end of Year 2 when I watched him get pancaked by a 3rd string tackle from Minnesota. The media and fans have made so many excuses for his suckage.

yep. He's the GM.
Mack has stolen money for sure and been a disappointment, but the blame for that rests at the guy issuing the contracts.

You're right, but if Pace doesn't make that deal Mack is a Packer and Chicago fans storm the McCaskey Palace and treat Mama Bear like she's Gaddafi.

We thought we were getting a version of Reggie White and got Randy Watson instead.

In 2018, The Bears path to the Super Bowl was the easiest it had been since the 1985 playoffs. If the Bears beat the Eagles, they were probably going all the way to Atlanta. Not quite sure how you can blame Mack for the 15 points and a missed FG at the end.

Mack's contract, ouchiness, and inconsistent play has definitely hurt the Bears since the double doink, but I would say that continuing to get the QB position wrong and Matt Nagy have to own much more of the blame than Khalil Mack does.

Yeah.. agreed, we are a awful offense every year for pretty much the last 25 years and the worst of the worst years were the last 5 under Pace-nagy

I agree with Nas. The way forward for this team is to extend Nagy and trade for (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky.

This is bullshit. I knew Nagy sucked when MANY of you all were still blowing him. Now you all want to get on my bus and pretend that you built it.

You claimed that he was a good head coach as recently as this season.

You're educating our future, I really hope that you aren't that dishonest with them. Managing men and managing an offense isn't the same. You don't get to take control of a bus that Rick and I rode alone for a while.

What are you even talking about? Your position until very recently was that Nagy is a good head coach and shouldn't be fired. You did argue that Lazor is a good offensive coordinator ( ) who would be an improvement over Nagy, but this is a little like saying that dying by a gunshot wound to the head beats getting stabbed to death. Your status as the board's leading advocate of the Peter Principle remains unchallenged.

I agree with Nas. Trading away picks that could have been used to build your offensive line or add skill players for your #2 overall QB was crazy. Pace went into 'win it all now' mode when they should have been building towards a couple years down the road. The Bengals for example, are doing it the right way around Burrows.

The trade was worth it for 2018, but the results were not great after that.

I would argue the results weren't great in 2018. That's a move that you make when you are a playoff team that’s trying to get over the hump. The Bears were still in the process of building a roster and developing a quarterback.

Says the guy who just recently discovered that Nagy was the problem and Foles isn't a good quarterback. I look forward to you discovering that Mack set the organization back in the next couple of years.

Of all Pace's first and second round picks only one guy got paid by someone else besides Pace. Most of his early picks are marginal NFL players, he misses about 75% of the time on early picks, so have zero confidence he would have turned those picks into anything other than average at best players like Daniels, Kmet, Miller, Mitch, White, Shaheen, and Whitehair, or likely traded the picks to get other marginal players.

Only one guy he has drafted has got paid in a second contract by anyone other than Ryan Pace. His ability to identify and draft offensive skill position players could be described as inept, but that would be an insult to inept people everywhere.
