“Our D was gassed” is a perfect excuse for a Khalil Mack thread. He’s apparently been gassed since the Miami game in 2018

It's only not closed to those who are bored and looking for things to do.

And to those who understand how football works

FF, don't tell me you're one of those guys who thinks being "legit" on one side of the ball at the expense of the other isn't enough to win the SB. Clearly they were proven right.

Legit is correct when you only give up 17 per. I know defense is a sore spot for you all since it's the only thing that's kept you from the SB this past decade.

What are you all talking about? The Bears held the Eagles a full touchdown under their scoring average. That's an excellent performance. They lost because the shithead QB can't make throws.

Thank you for proving my point. But just one question - did the NFL cease to exist after the 2018 season or something? Your “argument” here is truly bizarre even for you

I saw the game. The Bears gave up the score at the end. It doesn't make it any less of a performance. Like I said before, they limited the eagles to a TD under what they usually score. It's not on the D that they only scored 15 fucking points, 9 of which were Parkey's.

The Bears were a great d in 2018, good to average in 2019, average in 2020, and bad in 2021. Not sure what your argument is besides just feigning like you have some insight here.

So after giving up two 1sts for Mack and making him the highest paid D player ever his and the teams performance has steadily gone downhill since the first year to the point it’s downright bad now and the trade was a great one?

Lol. Case closed indeed.

Vegan’s lesson of the day: I will prefend Mack has a significant impact on the defense for the one (1) good year they had and pretend his impact is negligible and its everyone else’s fault the next three years

But yeah Zippy’s point you missed was the opportunity cost of the trade but if you think the trade was worth it for one good season more power to you. The results are pretty hard to argue in favor of at this point though.

They gave up a late touchdown AFTER being given the lead in the 4th quarter. That's something that our defense as consistently done in recent years. Unlike the Lovie defense or some of our better defenses in the past.

To be expected imo, the D is gassed, the time of possession is 2.5 or 3 to 1.

ToP was 30:48-29:12 in the playoff game.

The same Bears fans that rip Rodgers because GB only won 1 SB with him despite it being the D that usually lets them down in the playoffs give the Bears D a pass when they laid down when they were needed most.

Only the dumbest of the dumb rip Rogers for anything, hes a top 5 all timer. even more embarrassing if they happen to be a bear fan..because we suck.

The T.O.P. was referencing Nas as out D gives up late Points.. it makes sense with a terrible T.O.P. .. not just that one particular game. I wont put tgat playoff liss on the D..they played damn good..the offense as usual sucked.

I didnt like tge mack trade, those trades rarely work out when you give up so much and then pay a huge salary.. I hate Pace, ges a buffoon.

That “g” instead of “h” typing issue makes for a hard read. Amusing but hard.

Don't turn it back on. I fat finger the wrong word occasionally, but it is much better than them changing the word for me. Just don't forget to turn it back off when you change phones.

Wow, really hard to talk football with someone that apparently knows absolutely nothing about football, but will get out the crayons and try to explain it. If you watch the game, you will see Peters singled up on Mack, especially on the last drive when Foles was able to keep the drive alive by dumping passes of to TE's, you do realize that if Mack was able to beat Peters they would have been forced to at least chip him with a TE? I'm hoping you have at least that basic level of football acumen.

However, you should not be ashamed of yourself, most football dopes like yourself like to watch the pretty skill position guys and have no understanding of the difference a quality offensive line makes, why even a journeyman like Foles can win if his offensive lineman wins the one on one battle with the other teams highest paid player all game long.

Understanding this will go a long way to helping you understand why the Bears offense sucks so much, good luck with your journey young grasshopper.

I think you are coming at it from the perspective of a football fan who expects to make the playoffs every year because you have Aaron Rodgers. In terms of "Bears expectations" having one year where they were a legit Super Bowl contender is an accomplishment given that it was really the first time they had that since Lovie Smith was here. To put it another way, I think the Bears would have been far worse had they not traded for Mack. Mack + Kmet is better than the three high quality draft picks they gave up to get them.

Classic missing the forest for the trees kind of post. 16 points yielded is an excellent performance in today's NFL. Your critique suggests your standard for an acceptable performance is 0 yards given up and 0 points yielded. I don't think you've been informed that such a performance is simply impossible. You can thank me after you stick your crayons up your ass.

I know you're trolling here because you're a live in the moment, win now kind of fan. And that's fine. So if you were consistent and the Bears were your team, you'd love the trade for the chance it gave the Bears to get to the SB. It was a SB defense that the offense squandered.

Admitting Mack has underperformed during his stay here, and maybe wasn’t worth the price paid.. is mostly accurate and an acceptable remark.

Saying he’s actually the problem with the Bears is a stupid and unacceptable football thought.

Was Mack really the reason for the Bears success defensively or was it Hicks. A strong case could be made that Hicks was the most important player on that defense.

The effect of the Mack trade and his mediocrity will be felt for a few more years. No move has negatively impacted the Bears more since they passed on Mahomes. That can't be disputed by anyone who doesn't have their head in the sand.

The D should have been better than the offense, in fairness..I believe we were spending 60% on D and 40% on offense.

Hicks was equally important, both top 20 D players in the lwague for a few years.

They had already drafted the wrong quarterback before Mack arrived and then neutered whatever ceiling he may have had. The Bears could have still won with a mediocre (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky and a bad Nagy if Mack lived up to his end of the deal.

Mack Effect:
Lost 2 first round draft picks
Lost a 3rd round pick
Lost a 6th round pick
Lost $141M
Lost a great defensive coordinator
Lost most of Fangio's defensive staff
Lost developmental years
Lost additional capital trying to stack the defense for Mack
Lost 3 seasons expecting the defense to carry the team
Lost about a season from Mack because of injury
Mediocre to awful production after getting injured against the Dolphins in 2018.

It should be pointed out that they actually didn't lose a 3rd round pick. They upgraded it to a 2nd round pick.

Lost 8 regular season games in 2019 and 2020.
Lost at least ten regular season games in 2021, which will more than likely be 11-12 losses by season's end.
Lost 2 playoff games.

If you want to stick your head in the sand and put that ALL on Khalil Mack, then go right ahead.
