I would never bet on the Bears but if I did I would take the over for dumb penalties. Thayer agrees it was stupid btw. Outside of some meatball instinct what is there to defend? The defensive play was perfectly legal and they were walking away when Jenkins ran over there. Result? Penalty and punt…woo-hoo! Save the fake bravado for a time it is justified, like the Kendricks hit. That was deserving of retaliation.

You said last night during your self assured posting on the subject that you would bet that Fields wouldn't be supportive of what Jenkins did. You said it with such authority someone might be mistaken that you knew what you were talking about.

I assume this is what you're referring to: "I’d bet Fields would rather start 15 yds closer to the end zone." I'll stand by that. If Fields were to answer that question differently that would have been a real shock.

It's ok. No one would think less of you if you admitted you were wrong.

With one shove and an unsportsman-like penalty, Tevin Jenkins has become the toast of Chicago. Just watch how teams try to bait him going forward.

The kid is still growing physically and mentally. Seems like a pretty level headed guy. I like him. I still think he's going to be a really good NFL player.

I agree. He looked really good last night. The one holding call was total bullshit by the way.

Don't know if he can get any bigger physically and not have more back issues. He's already mammoth.

Back issues, like shoulder issues can be greatly alleviated through strength training and adding muscle. As long as he doesn't have some degenerative problem, they can keep him healthy.

Somehow thinking that Jenkins getting that unnecessary penalty "defending his QB" or whatever after he took a clean hit and pushing his team back another 15 yards was some sort of moral victory is lost on me. Getting dumb penalties when your team is struggling to move the ball is a bad thing I'm pretty sure. Ifedi seemed to recognize this.

After watching the Bears my whole life I’ll take all the moral victories I can find.

Ifedi is a giant pussy.

Jenkins saw his QB get shoved and go flying out of bounds, went over to jaw at the Vikings, got shoved, and punched back.

Later in the game when Fields took another shot on the sidelines, Ifedi came up to Fields and told him to stop talking to the ref.

Hopefully Ifedi is embarrassed by his performance last night and his teammates are letting him know it.

Unfortunately for the Bears the 15 yarder was more necessary than winning a game when you're 4-9.

Yeah, I don’t think Ifedi should be on the team anymore.

BTW, here's the complete quote from Fields. Seems pretty clear that he would prefer Jenkins stand up for him without generating a drive-killing penalty.

“I told him I liked what he did there, and I appreciate him,” Fields said. “But at the same time he’s got to be smart. But I definitely love the mindset and I love him sticking up for me. That’s what we need more of. But I just told him, I love it, but just do it between the whistle.”

This is football. You have to protect your brothers. That's why even the Nagy penalty was necessary. The Bears are bad enough, but they've routinely gotten fucked by the referees all season.

The team was 4-9 and the QB had just taken a boderline cheap shot. If there is any 'right' time for an OLineman to get a penalty sticking up for his guy, it was when Jenkins did it on Monday. No issues with what Nagy or Jenkins did.

The most egregious penalty was Trevis Gipson who should have been sent to the locker room immediately after.

It wasn't borderline nor cheap & it wasn't even a hard hit. The time would have been Kendricks.

It was borderline for sure. Its likely a flag if that had happened to your guy.

Kendricks was flagged immediately and was ejected, which were absolutely the right calls.

I don't think he saw it. He walked up and told them what he thought. He was punched (no flag for that) and he punched back.

Since when is shoving a guy who is still in bounds and about to throw a pass borderline?

I didn't know that you were Dan Bernstein or Germain Ifedi. Did you also think that the Nagy penalty was dumb? Is a penalty ever acceptable?

What you described is not borderline. But what you described also didn't happen in this Fields/Jenkins situation, so I'll just assume that you do not want to be genuine in this discussion and will move on.

I'll never say never, but purposely or stupidly getting a penalty and hurting your team might feel good at the time, but all it really shows is you momentarily lost control. Had Fields really been hit late or been the victim of blatant unnecessary roughness it could be better understood, but jenkins clearly didn't see what happened, saw his QB on his ass and the vikings celebrating, and lost his cool and took a dumb penalty and is being celebrated for it.

You're simply incapable of even trying to look at anything objectively. Don't you ever get tired of crying about the refs?

You're clearly wrong and Zippy is clearly right here. The hit was completely legal.

It's hard for you and Zip to understand because more times than not the refs are working to help the Packers win.
