How often do the National announcers seem to advocate for cleaning house?

It would be so Bears to keep him around when you can get a two week head start this year.

Genuine question bc I don’t know…but what does that get you?

Are the best coordinators - who presumably are playing for something - talking now? Who else is out there? It’s not like college where there’s a potential roster advantage, so I’m curious why it really matters.

And suggest the issue is above the GM...Griese might have a vendetta against Phillips.

Guys can talk openly about it once Nagy is gone. Right now it's not known what the Bears are going to do, but if you cut Nagy you can stop walking on eggshells. Every ambitious OC/DC or unemployed former HC can speak openly (within their circles) about the job and use backchannels to campaign for the job.

you might want to fire Nagy with a few games left if you're considering either Desai (possibly) or Lazor (less likely) for HC going forward. Make em the interim for a few games and see how they do.

the person you want to fire ASAP if you're thinking of firing both HC and GM is Ryan Pace. GM isn't really doing anything the next few weeks, other than maybe watching bowl games for draft scouting purposes. And any candidate for NFL GM is going to be doing that regardless if they are currently a GM or not.

Firing both HC and GM at the same time after the season is a recipe for a clusterfuck. Either you have to hold off on hiring a coach until you lock down a GM or you proceed to hire a HC who the new GM may or may not support.

WTF, why would anyone want either coordinator to be considered for HC? It all needs to go

Nagy should be gone just for calling wide-receiver screens that go nowhere.

Your logic is sound, but neither of these clowns should still be employed as it is. I wouldn't expect anyone in the Bears to act logically.

Fire Pace. I don't have a problem with them keeping Nagy. It seems pretty obvious that Fields was way more of a project than Pace or George understood, but clearly Nagy understood, thus him trying to start Dalton all year.

I don’t feel like we need to keep Nagy. Last night however I did see that he cares greatly and isn’t dumb. I think that is what management sees or will decide.

There is no question that Nagy was right about Fields. The problem is, Nagy has absolutely sucked with the offense for 3.5 years. You can't allow that to continue. He should have been fired last offseason.

something to be said for continuity of coaches/system for QB development. Recall Jay Cutler chirping about having 3 different head coaches and however many different offenses in 5 years when he was first with the Bears.

If the Bears are going to change HC, they need the next guy to stick long enough to get Fields over the hump. Can't have a Trestman type situation where it's a bad hire and you're already looking for a new HC in Fields 3rd year

This is why Nagy should have been fired at the end of last season.

That would have been the right move. Pace is probably kicking himself he didn't think of it at the time. Could've easily ridden the new coach and developing QB thing to a contract extension.

Would actually be a mercy killing as he would finish with a winning record with the Bears. Odds are they lose the last three, making his record 32-33.

He might actually be able to trick someone down the line with a coach of the year award and a winning record.

Nope! He'll struggle finding a coordinator position. He's going to get a television gig. He'll be good at that.

That Yinzer accent would make for a brutal listen. I’d rather hear Cutty passive aggressively sigh his way through a broadcast than four hours of Pittsburghese.

Because teams who fire their coach in season are allowed to start interviewing candidates in season. Next Tuesday, IIRC .

Perfect time to hire that new Team President to start the process on this. But they will probably just promote Pace for some damn reason because.. Bears..

And by perfect time, I mean 6 weeks ago.
