98 unnecessarily hit fields OB. Could and should have been a flag. Jenkins got in his face. Then 90 came over and smacked Jenkins and he retaliated. Could easily have just been called offsetting...which it was.

This is what actual roughing the passer looks like:

The hit is legal and that is one thing the MNF crew actually got right when they explained it.

The officials rarely see the first hit after the whistle.

Jenkins was fine until he swung back, was the second guy, and got caught.

Not sure how the refs could have missed Jenkins getting punched. He was on an island with 4 Vikings players and a ref was standing right next to them.

The only official in the video who should have seen the first shot was... the guy who flagged Nagy for cussing him out.

The refs were probably wondering what the fuck he was complaining about too, wading into a group of Vikings crying his QB got 2-hand touched while in bounds while holding the football. Way to go though, what grit.

This is another issue. When guys like Kruetz, Garza, or Long were on the team, no Olineman remained on an island like that for more than about half a second.

I'm all for it. Can Jenkins please have one of those every quarter in the final game of the season? The Vikings could use the extra 60 yards. Add in an expected holding penalty and two likely false starts and the future HOFer can contribute 85 yards to the Vikings cause.

which would be a personal foul and offsides more than Cousins threw for against Thomas Graham and Kindle Vildor

There’s only one logical reason for the Vikings choosing to run it more than they passed it against a secondary filled with afterthoughts. Mike Zimmer believed, deep down, that the Bears’ offense wouldn’t make enough plays to beat a super-conservative plan. In that sense, he was correct.

It was far from pretty for the Vikings’ offense. They scored just 17 points, but as lackluster as they were, Chicago was a flat-out abomination.

I read the blog to spare the rest of the board.

I can’t imagine what would compel somebody to sit at a computer and expend time & effort writing something that stupid.

We don't think you can score 18 so we'll purposely only score 17.

Wonnum's shove was unnecessary and OB. If the league is going to protect the QBs the protect them all.

None of the play was all that egregious...even Jenkins' slap.

I think we'll see more chippy play from the Oline in support of Fields. I also think the Bears beat the Vikings next time around.

It was borderline for sure. Its likely a flag if that had happened to your guy.

Kendricks was flagged immediately and was ejected, which were absolutely the right calls.

Since when is shoving a guy who is still in bounds and about to throw a pass borderline?
What you described is not borderline. But what you described also didn't happen in this Fields/Jenkins situation, so I'll just assume that you do not want to be genuine in this discussion and will move on.

Nice copout. What part didn't happen?

Still waiting.

The initial shove was clearly while Fields was inbounds and as he cocked his arm to throw. Is the defenseman supposed to assume he will just continue out of bounds and hold onto the ball? And he did throw it to prevent a sack - which would have worked if Jenkins didn’t negate his smart play.

That doesn't make Wonnum's hit illegal. He got a chance at a legal shot and took it.

Field's will learn to throw it away quicker so it doesn't happen again.

I think that’s the takeaway from that play - fields needs to throw that fucking ball away instead of holding to the last second like that. He is always holding the ball that couple seconds too long before throwing it away and/or sliding. If he doesnt want to get pushed and shoved and keep taking unnecessary contact, get down or throw it away. He seems to really push it and take a lot of contact and then his linemen get offended and instigate stupid penalties on his behalf to the thrill of the adoring crowd.

I hope they get a personal foul on every damn play next game.

Call so many the refs can’t keep calling them.

Set a fucking baseline for the franchise.

Now is the time. I don’t like our odds of making the playoffs anyway unless COVID destroys and teams start opting out Gator Bowl-style.

Thayer was on the Mully and Haugh show today and calmly eviscerated Jenkins, questioning his conditioning, toughness and commitment to being good.

Interesting. What is he basing this one? Has got to be around him or is this like leak from a coach?
