Very curious to see how Lous handles this week. Although the MEts bullpen has been awful and it may not even matter who they put out there.

Marquis hits a grand slam, Cubs rolling 7-2.

Cory Provis is NOT a color man. With him and Pat Hughes in the booth at the same time, that's A LOT of radio-voice....

I would not be surprised to see the Cubs win 4-5 of these last 7, as the teams trailing them have ALL the pressure on them. The Cubs are relaxed, knowing they have clinched already and confident-as a team with the best record in the league should be. Relaxed and confident-that's a great recipe for more success. I would think that Lou would keep the starters on low pitch counts in general, the rest of the way. However, they may let Marquis go a bit further, if they don't intend for him to be in the rotation once the playoffs start. To be fair, he has done a pretty nice job in most starts down the stretch. Much better than many of us may have expected.

He had a nice 2 week strech, then went it went bad. I sorta thought he be bad since he gave up a homer to the first batter he faced when traded to the cubs.

Gaudin and Howry may both sit this out. Lou may decide to have Marquis on the roster in long releif, with Marshall. Samardjia, Marmol, Cotts and Wood would be the bullpen, with Zambrano, Dempster, Harden and Lilly starting. The last spot may go to Wells. Of course Lou may go with experience and choose Howry or Gaudin. But I would hate to see either in a close game.

The game was a great one for Marshall, I thought. Heck, if the ball doesnt hit the broken bat on Santana's slug bunt, he may have gone unscored upon. As it is, having gone 5 innings and held Santana to a draw, was pretty impressive. Too bad Gaudin had to go pitch batting practice in the 6th. Oh well. When we saw Johan Santana VS Sean Marshall, what did we really expect? Go get em tomorrow....

I would be shocked if Howry doesn't make the playoff roster. I have no faith in Howry and cringe every time he enters the game, but Lou obviously likes his "experience" and his power arm (which hasn't been here this year). The fact that Howry is still here after being bad the majority of the year and guys like Eyre and Wuertz were pretty much forgotten after a few bad outings seems to indicate that Lou still sees Howry as a guy who has something left.

I hope he is right.

Z's stuff is good tonight and while I dont play "blame the ump" game, that ump doest have a funny strike zone, it changes from batter to batter. If I am lou, i keep Z in.5-1 now, but O.Perez should give up another few runs, cubs will come back in this one.

This Zambrano meltdown is a joke. Walk 3 in a row with 2 out, and then give up a grand slam. Why in the hell play games with Reyes at 3rd, you had nobody near 3rd to make a play, just worry about the damn batter.

Mr. Wolfe's strike zone has been a fucking joke all year. It hasn't changed and it would be nice to see the Ump's union do something about it. I hope he doesn't have a playoff series.

When I read that I had to check the date/time stamp on this thread to see if this was current, or from any of the years he was with the White Sox. Or any years in between, for that matter. Or any years before he was managing the Sox.

Mets still suck even if they win this game. Howry's broke dick giving up the triple with no outs and they cant score? I just hope them and Milwaukee have to play Monday.

As I said before, all the pressure is on the Mets and Brewers in these final games. The importance of those at bats with runners on third for the Mets, cannot be overstated. But then they cant execute. I give the pitching some credit. But the Met hitters sure helped by swinging at a lot of balls out of the strike zone, as they were uber-anxious. Thats what pressure can do. Nice to see Kerry get em 1-2-3 for the save.

What is hilarious is that the Brewers fans at work have been complaining because the Cubs are going to determine their destiny. Im like, if you guys didnt fall off the face of the earth the past month, you wouldnt have this problem.

I hate the Mets and the Brewers, but I think hate the Mets a little less and I would love to see the Brewers collapse completely and miss the playoffs for a 2nd straight year.

I really love Miller Park and the prospect of a Cubs/Brewers NLCS. Go to games at both parks....That would be fun. I am going on Saturday up there and am very happy that it will likely be a very meaningful game still. Plus, if the Cubs win out here, they will get to the 100 win mark. Thats really not at all important, in the big picture. 11 wins in the playoffs is what counts. But it would be kinda nice to get the 100 win total too.

Harden against Pedro Martinez tomorrow night. This should be big time advantage to the Cubs. Marrtinez's ERA 5.50, is more than twice Hardens (2.03). Plus, the noose around the necks of the Mets players, has to be getting very tight now. Win #97 may well be had in the wrap up in Shea.

Zambrano is a fucking headcase. Cubs should make him see a shrink next season. How a guy who is that good, and has been pitching in MLB for this long loses his cool on the mount repeatedly like that is unreal.

Frank dont lash out because the white sox lost..J/K. I agree frank, zambrano loses his head, after the game he says he has to control it and be a man about it, next game, same thing...personally, i am tired of it.

Marquis said that he consulted with a sports psychologist this year and that it has helped him. He might want to pass the guys card to Z.
