Not really bragging but I found some information online that indicates that my grandfather received a Purple Heart for his service in WWII. He was one of two guys from his platoon to survive after some brutal fighting in Okinawa. Apparently he was found injured and wandering around on his own. Understandably he never talked about the war when he came home. My mom nor my uncle had any idea he was awarded one as they never saw or heard about it. With some help from my uncle I am going to try to ask the military for a replacement so that we can make a nice memorial for him to keep in the family. I suspect a lot of red tape but hopefully in the process I can learn more about his service and find out if he earned this medal.

that is pretty cool TBone

My uncle went through the trouble of creating something for me. Rather than go through the government he was able to secure replicas of the awards from a website that look accurate. I don't know exactly what it is going to look like but he said I should be getting something tomorrow or Monday. Said he was able to secure replicas of all his awards, ribbons, his expert marksman badge, Marine Corps insignia collar pin, and division shoulder patch. Can't wait to see how it turned out.

a looper is a golf caddie. The Evans scholarship provides a full ride college scholarship to many caddies around the country every year. It's a fantastic fund of the Western Golf Association, supported by many pros and country clubs.

That's great. I really should have caddied in high school but I didn't have a car and was busy trying to play myself. After I graduated college I did it for a couple of summers on weekends and days off of my regular job over at The Merit Club in Libertyville. Nice place. Saw my fair share of famous people over there and I think at that time we were getting $35 cash per bag and I would carry two at a time.

Post a couple pics of the medals when you get them, TBone. I'd be interested to see them.

My mom has some of my grandfather's pins as well, including the original Purple Heart. No documentation though, unfortunately. He also "borrowed" a couple of Nazi medals too that she still has. I may have told the story here of how my grandfather and his older brother were both in Europe during WWII, were captured by Nazi's, and actually crossed paths as the Nazi's were marching the POWs across the land.

It showed up on my front doorstep when I went home for lunch. It turned out really great. I am not sure how to post a pic from my phone but it is a nice landscape oriented shadow box.

I booked a short trip to St Germain, WI to snowmobile since the trails opened Monday. What a fun area. The trails are amazing. There are great bars. When you pull up to the typical bar, there are 20-30 snowmobiles out front. So much fun.

My kids are home from college and joined me on the trip. I love throwing back beers with my son.

My Grandmother was a painter in her youth and a good one. She was born in 1896. When she was 14, she painted her dog in front of an old farm building.

It's very good for someone of any age. I had no idea it was a family thing until my Mother told me the story. It hung in my house my whole life and I was given it when my parents had gone.

I explained the history of the painting to my son, Dr. Ken Jr. I, tonight to let him understand the history of this 111 year-old painting from his Great-Grandmother.

He understood. It was a good moment.

Sure. Glad to.

Planned a couple hours ahead and took the pills needed for joint pain and arousal.

Took the time in between to stretch out the shoulders and lower back. Lower back has been giving me issues lately.

Then I took a shower to be fresh. Used the Blonde version of shampoo to make my grey hair extra white and shiny.

Then it was time for action. Watched a movie with my partner. Fell asleep for a while. Needed to stretch a bit more.

Now was the time. But, my wife got a call from her family. So, I waited.

Sort of fell asleep. But, then the call was over.

She was irritated by the call from the family and we talked about it for a while. Now, the medicine was wearing off. Stretched out some more as we discussed the issues about her cousin in Florida.

Took the time to call XFinity and ask what was up with my HBO Max subscription. Got it reconnected.

Then I was amazing.
