Will the Saints have a better record than the Bears at the end of the season?

That helps but wow...Andy Dalton squares off against the Giants is a tough sell. Good news is traffic should be lighter than usual.

Enjoy?

Pace bowl.

Dalton v. Long Neck

If local public transit had a sense of humor, the suburban bus operators would advertise heavily on this one.

That will be one of the most miserable days you'll ever have. I think it's gonna be fucking cold as fuck and windy. Fuck going to that game.

Too bad they aren't already in Arlington Heights.

In the end, Pace saw something in Glennon that just wasn’t there — the “it” factor — an evaluation flaw that in retrospect was a red flag for Pace’s quarterback intuition. “He has a natural leadership style to him,” Pace said of Glennon. “He’s very charismatic

That wasn’t Glennon’s reputation coming out of N.C. State in 2013. In fact, Pro Football Weekly’s respected Draft Preview saw the opposite: “Lacks the personality and leadership traits desired on the front line and is best suited in the pros in a backup role,” draft analyst Nolan Nawrocki wrote. That turned out to be the more accurate evaluation

How many experts had Mahomes as a generational talent? I love when sports journalists write obituaries for others despite being wrong about most pre-draft evaluations. It's a great gig to have, you just pretend that you never have bad thoughts.

They also don’t have huge scouting departments and aren’t paid millions to be correct, so it’s not quite apples to apples.

Yeah I don’t understand that line of thought.

Is the idea that if a sportswriter is not as good at talent evaluation as a professional football team’s general manager then he can’t criticize somebody in that role?

No one is asking them to find 6th round gems like good dolphin or Dr Ken. A 1st round talent is usually someone that anyone who regularly watches a sport can identify. Besides, sports journalists/talkers also regularly miss on the evaluation of professional talent as well.

My biggest gripe about many obituaries is that the journalists make it appear that everyone except for the GM knew ______ move(s) was wrong. That is rarely true. They also generally exclude that they championed some of the same shitty decisions. There isn't a rule that says that they aren't allowed to acknowledge some of their own misses.

Was talking about just that with a bunch of people, if the game is in a dome and I can take the train right up to the front door it would be easy to get cheap tickets with a few buddies. A much easier and cheaper journey in and out than Soldier Field, will not freeze to death, and can at the very least have plenty of alcohol with a few of my football guys while watching bad NFL football.

The new stadium likely gets a bowl game and may do the same thing just to check out a bowl game because it sure looks like there are plenty of good seats available at most of the games not featuring SEC teams.
