The Bears have no sense of urgency. They are letting Nagy finish out the year because he's a nice guy. Other teams are going to be conducting interviews this week.

That leads me to believe that Jim Harbaugh or Ryan Day is the next coach of the Chicago Bears.

Now, it's possible that they are also firing Ryan Pace, but nothing like that has leaked and everyone knows that Nagy is gone so it would indicate to me that they are working with Pace on the next steps.

Please don't let it be Ryan Day.

I think they like Nagy so much they'll just rehire him.

Given the generally poor hires they have made in the past, I guess Harbaugh would be an upgrade. It just does not excite me much.

I thought that they were rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic by promoting Pace, who will hire a new GM, who will hire a new coach. They will attempt to pacify fans with the appearance of change while leaving the key incompetents--Phillips, George, Pace--in place.

The guys who are being interviewed "today" aren't exactly hot names. Any new GM already has his coach lined up.

Nagy will have a 35-30 record as a coach after next week and have lead the team to playoffs in 2 of his 4 years. I just wonder if someone with an opening will see that and be fooled.

It will be Ryan Day. The Bears are tired of hearing the noise about Chicago being the place where QBs die. So if Fields fails they can say "dont look at us, we gave him everything, including his college coach".

I think Roman has to be at the top of their list. He comes from a great organization that seems to hire only the best. He coached under an excellent HC. Every QB he puts in seems prepared and plays above his ability. He adjusts well.

Possibly. His need to call plays will more likely than not prevent him from getting another NFL job.

From what I hear, Ravens fans will drive him to Reagan Airport

his offenses have been terrible. i cant see him landing a HC or OC job this off-season. wouldnt shock me to see him go back to KC or land somewhere as a qb coach

Yeah, the Bears. After seeing up close the complete disaster that is the Giants, Nagy looks like Lombardi (to the McCaskeys).

I believe he signed a 5 year deal. He'll take the year off before he becomes a QB coach. Some college will hire him. He has a winning record, he's likeable and he was CoY a few years ago.

Nagy is something like 17-27 since Thanksgiving 2018. The only team dumb and incompetent enough to be fooled by his overall record would be the Bears.

I mean, Rich Kotite got a second job so the Jets always loom large at making a bad hire.

That would be to BWI Bob, not Reagan.

Jim Harbaugh would make sense but they can't keep Pace and who knows that the new GM will want.

You can fly out of both. I flew out of Dulles doing business in DC cause it's simply a much nicer airport

Having the HC work for Pace is going to limit the field to new HCs only. No established figure like Harbaugh is going to want to report to a less accomplished, arguably incompetent boss like Pace.

I don't want a college coach. Jim Harbaugh is the exception because he was a successful head coach in the NFL. Lets get an experienced head coach! No coordinators or college dorks!

The good experienced head coaches are under contract or dead.

I think the question is why the hypothetical Ravens fan wants to spend a couple hours commuting to a DC airport rather than drop him off in Baltimore.

He's married to it here where he CAN"T not call plays. Maybe the next time around he learns that he was pretty good at doing the things an executive type of head coach does. He can hire good assistants and get our of their way, like he did with Fangio.
