I am optimistic that the reason Nagy is coaching out the year is because they have no idea who will hire the next guy. Unfortunately, vegan's scenario is likely.

I just don't see how they can look at the regular season record (47-64), the playoff record (zero wins), and think that keeping or promoting Pace wouldn't be viewed as a joke move by a joke franchise. My fear is that Viriginia likes him personally and has insisted to the kids that he remain for the few years she has left, regardless of how bad the team is.

I assume they use a business lense when assessing the state of the team.

Are we meeting whatever profit targets
Are certain scandals (harassment, fraud, etc) putting as at risk for reputational and/or financial damage
Are we covered for other major risks to financial and reputation

Maybe you can say lackluster on the field performance raises a small flag but so as long as said performance doesn't affect the financials in any significant way then I can't see them viewing the team as a problem.

The Bears suck as a team but do well as a business. Maybe that's why all the structural change we want to see probably won't happen. Why fix something that isn't broke (business-wise).

Some years, like this year, you get fans at the gate with pitchforks in hand. Fine, just apply some window dressing. Fire the coach or GM, schedule a very-serious-press-conference, drop words like Halas standards, championships, beating the Packers, etc., and then watch the press and fans distract themselves with yet another head coach search while the structural root causes of the incompetence remain untouched. Change at HC/GM buys the c-suite yet another 3-5 years of quiet while all eyeballs are focused on the field. Rinse and repeat.

If teddy goes, and is replaced by Pace, I'll be good with that if the new GM has autonomy on football decisions.

I think it would be helpful for the Bears to have an actual person with football knowledge as team President.

I'm not quite sure Pace fits that description.

Promote Nagy to GM.

Demote Pace to head coach.

My thought is, and many of you know my thoughts are best described as odd, is that Ryan Pace would be best suited to run a national Cost Cutters campaign where he and Cody Parkey are two of the people appearing on a Kim Jong-unesque "Approved Hair Styles for Millennials" poster hanging on the wall of every Cost Cutters in the good ole' USA.

Maybe he keeps Mama Bear young or every coaching hire was decided by folks above him. George seems to really be moved by public opinion.

Aside from the overall shit record, Pace should be married to Nagy since all we heard at last year's presser was how they would be collaborating. We should assume that this year's failure was a joint effort.

I could not agree more. Maybe Nagy's offensive failures trump Pace's early round failures.

nagy is a bad OC AND pace has not provided nagy with a roster that is good enough to win. so they both need to go

very few gm are allowed to pick a third HC or draft a second qb with a high pick when the previous choices failed

I don't think Pace has been a terrible GM. That being said, he's done nothing to get to hire a 3rd head coach.

What he gave up to draft a bust of a QB at pick #2 is makes him a bad GM.
Signing MIke Glennon for $18 million makes him a bad GM.
Leno, Massie, Foles, Kevin White.

The list goes on. Ryan Pace is a bad General Manager.

Yeah..bad GM, The Trading up is a firable offense. Tarik Cohen getting Kareem Hunt money.. Mitch alone was a firable offense.

What? He got like $5M for 2 years. Mama Bear didn't want Hunt after the failed woman beater from San Francisco.

Wasn’t Leno Phil Emerys only successful pick? Not saying Pace is great or even good but does everyone remember the Emery-Trestman era? Bears are in a better position now. Not good but better.

Pace gave Leno a big extension which proved to be wasted money.

Look....Pace has been in charge for 7 years of drafting and Free Agency....coming up on #8. His resume shows a very unimpressive win / loss record. His teams have won ZERO playoff games and the team isn't even in the playoffs. The roster is hot garbage and he's given away draft picks every single year.

There is zero defense for Pace. None. He's bad at his job. The Bears are a fucking clown show.

The Bears roster is far better than it was when Pace arrived.
