Pace created a SB-worthy defense. It peaked in 2018 but was still capable in 2019 and arguably 2020. He gets credit for that.

The reason we couldn't leverage the defense to springboard into the SB was because Pace whiffed on the QB and offense in general. Pace also gets the blame for that.

So, when you add all the credits and debits up like an accountant, I'm seeing a net negative.

Therefore, promote Pace (using Bears/Nas logic).

Pace would have done a good job if he hadn't used so many draft picks to do it.

The only justifiable trade he made was the Mack deal, and that's probably a neutral deal overall depending on how good Cole Kmet really is.

I would probably give Pace a C right now and that would go up if his 2021 draft develops into good to great players. The roster looks far better today than it did when he arrived. That fact can't be ignored.

There's like 7 building blocks on offense. That's an improvement from when he started but it's still 7.

There are 7 building blocks if your goal is to create the 24th best offense in the NFL.

 I'm not even sure the Chiefs have 7. Pretty sure they don't. That's hilarious

Borom looks like a guy who will be really good to great for a while.
MANY still believe Fields has star potential.
Jenkins improved dramatically after his first game.
MANY love Montgomery.
I love Herbert.
Mooney looks like he'll at least be a solid #2.
Whitehair will be solid for the next 5 years
Daniels will be a good player
Jury is not quite in on Kmet

Nagy has ALWAYS been the issue with the offense. Montgomery and Mooney may be the only players who marginally developed on offense under Nagy. You could probably make a case that he held them back.

I think there’s a bit of that Bears’ fan thing going on, where guys who start for the Bears are perceived as better than they are.

I didn't mean that as praise. Fields is unknown but you're expecting a lot from him. The two young o linemen. Mooney looks to project as a decent #3 with #2 potential. Herbert and Montgomery are decent. So maybe building blocks is premature but maybe you can call them potential building blocks.

Fields and Mooney I can see. Maybe Jenkins and Borom but I doubt it. No others.

RBs arent building blocks unless they are HOF caliber. Churn through them and draft another in a couple years.

That's fine but what I'm saying is we're at the point where we can actually use them to churn. Worst case is where you have to acquire someone because your RBs suck. That's not the case with us - the one thing we can do is run. Not Derrick Henry style, but still.

I think they have 2/3 guys who could play for a good team and a few others they have no choice but to try to develop.

He gets a C if the CTU is grading him and using a curve because of remote learning.

Any objective Bears/NFL fan knows without a doubt that his grade is an F.

Even if you give him every benefit of the doubt, he took a "playoff team" from last year into double digit losses this year.

Mooney doesn't project to be a 2-3. He is already there. That is one talent you can bank and I don't think that would be a controversial take around the league. The only question is if he takes the next step, commonly seen in the great WR in year 3.

What would the record be if this Bears roster had Bill Belichick as the head coach?

Probably 9-8 and still a first round playoff exit.

Pace sucks. He's had 7 years to build the crappy roster you see in front of you.

Maybe, but Bellichik finds a way to make and probably win the Super Bowl with that 2018 club.

Montgomery gets more praise than any 3.8 ypc running back I've ever seen.

For me, he's maybe above average. Nothing special, not horrible either. As everyone knows, the threat of a passing attack opens up the running game. He doesn't have that advantage.

I only caught the tail end as I got in the car, but Olin Kreutz says the Bears offered him a position helping the offensive line...the pay? $15/hr.

He needs to reduce the drops and improve the contested catch success to get anywhere near great.

That's why he's so bitter. I believe Ron Riviera worked for free.

I don’t know if Pace is good or not. I do know that Nagy is a bad OC. He was bad when he had Mahomes running his plays. It’s pretty hard to judge the talent based on what offense or lack of offense they run. I believe there is some decent talent but it’s hard to see with their lack of any sort of direction or scheme. I don’t trust the organization to get the coach right so it probably doesn’t matter who is drafting. Without the right coach and staff in place they won’t develop the draft pick either. He definitely needs to stop giving away draft picks.
I guess my problems go above Pace which makes it even more depressing. I’m really not sure why I am still a fan.

Yeah, it was good stuff. Olin made the comment in passing and fortunately, the drilled him a little deeper. It's soooooo Bears.
