Just wrote my 700th letter of recommendation! That's 28 per year since I have been teaching or (well, some of you know my other job, which is basically teaching).

I go all in when writing these, so most of them are unique, though on some of them I used my own template, which makes sense.

Most LOR don't matter too much, but once in a while they really do; once in a great while, I'll hear from the school or program or scholarship committee or company or foundation.

That’s awesome.

I actually have a couple I still read from time to time that HS teachers wrote for me. For different reasons I ended up with an extra copy I promised not to read til after graduation.

If you’ve never done that, I’d suggest writing an extra and giving it to your student at graduation. You never know - they may take a look 20 years later and it’ll mean something then.

Gracias! I agree that these things really can mean something to some people. Some people are not real conscious of who they are, what they are good at, or the impact they have. Or they learn to quash this consciousness (for whatever reason).

I actually do that kind of thing often. I don't always send students their letters of rec, but sometimes I do when they have turned out especially well or I really want the person to know what I think of them. And for someone who gets criticized all the time for being "too masculine" or "a little intimidating" in class or with 13-22 year-olds in general, I do a lot of foofy stuff, like having them write letters to themselves I send two years later, compiling class playlists, etc.

Today was the first day that the Post children went skiing. Two Post (7) and Three Post (5) were in ski school all day while me and Mrs Post skied together. Was a beautiful day and had a lot of fun, but the best runs of the day were the 10 I took at the end of the day with my kids on the bunny hill. They had so much fun and were so proud of how good they were. So was I.

I TKOed Mike Tyson in punchout. It took a lot of practice and some help from tutorials on YouTube, but I did it after a lot of failed attempts.

So did you use your right hand like normal, or did you decide to cheat on yourself with your left?

Son is a freshman. He dressing JV Tonight against Manual. Played last 2 and a half minutes of the 1st half and hit a 3. He is getting tossed around like a toy by a 6'7" kid.

It was fun watching to watch our son go from being the hunter, to the being the hunted his senior year.

I miss watching him play, but it's helped me to appreciate him as a person even more.

That was very poorly worded.

At 7:07am my first granddaughter was born.

Sucks with this covid deal we cannot be at the hospital to see her. But still pretty cool stuff!

Congratulations on the addition to the family!

Condolences on being so old that you're a grandpa.
