No one said Olin is a legend. I said he was a hell of a player who made the NFL's Team of the Decade and was selected to 6 Pro Bowls. None of this is refutable, which is why you haven't attempted to refute it.

I also agreed with you by saying that Olin isn't important. As the leader of a multi-billion dollar NFL franchise, however, George McCaskey is important. So why exactly would he bother with ridiculing Olin at a press conference where he is purportedly announcing a new direction for his team? It's illogical, immature, thin-skinned and, yes, embarrassing. You seem to think differently, though, so here's your opportunity to explain why.

I found it odd the circling of the wagons. Many who circled the wagons had no use for the center of the decade back in the day. My theory is Olin is getting used by these people, as the bigger fish to fry is George McCaskey. So my explanation is "Why are we buying what media is selling?" It is the equivalent of clickbait. Maybe I'm right, maybe I'm wrong. It's my perception.

Of course Olin is being used by the Score and other media outlets. His outbursts provide a lot of entertainment, something the Bears themselves haven't done for years.

But he's also allowing himself to be used because he wants to settle old scores with George.

None of this changes the fact that George is an embarrassment--and incompetent.

OK, I hear ya. Do you think this part of the press conference was the most troubling part? I can think of three more troubling and embarrassing moments.

Why does this seem to bother you so much? Is there a list which prioritizes the topics worthy of discussion?

In many ways this is a tell on how George thinks and that the team does not have a good infrastructure in place to process/interpret outside feedback/data, which makes perfect sense given the teams ongoing inability to self-scout and evaluate players.

This is an organization made up of yes men and women that are never going to tell any member of the McKaskey family they are wrong. A quality organization would have a PR or HR person sit down with George and give him a script on exactly what to say about Olin, it really is not hard to come up with a statement, here ya go Bears, you can thank me later. "The Bears organization greatly appreciates Olin's contribution to the team during his playing days and wishes him the best during his current endeavors, but the organization does not discuss personnel issues in public", period, end of statement.

When you say the fish rots from the head down, you are basically talking about the good 'ole mom and pop organization we all know as The Chicago Bears. Anyone that has ever worked for a small maw and paw shop knows exactly how they operate, you get the kids or grandkids running it eventually and they are coddled children of affluence, there just to draw a paycheck and little else, if they are smart, they hire smart people to run the operation and limit their daily involvement to showing up for Christmas parties to give out gifts, signing employee anniversary cards, and putting their names on company-wide emails/statements someone else writes, anything they say or do is first filtered through and formulated by HR/PR staff.

Your Chicago Bears are not a well run family business, one can only wonder how long they would stay in business if the guaranteed NFL TV money was yanked and they had to run the business on their own abilities.

Might not be the smartest move on Olin's part to remind Bears fans that he is partially responsible for the "development" of Sam Mustipher.

George Darth McCaskey slays Olin Obi Wan Kreutz and makes the former player much more powerful than he was before.

Yes. Besides, he doesn't want to get sued. Despite the tough guy act, he's not going to go around and beat the crap out of sports journalists.

If it weren’t for the NFL , Kreutz would be in jail on the Big Island for beating the shit out of white people who come there and “ disrespect “ their warrior culture .

Reuben Brown is on with Spiegel and Parkins right now talking about how HE had a run-in with George in the ticket office and that Olin intervened to settle things down in this instance as well.

What kind of operation was George running where fights with players were apparently not infrequent?

Edit: He just elaborated a little bit more about the incident, it sounds like it was nothing.

Reuben Brown seems like a great guy, by the way.

Seems like McCaskey consulted with Connor McGregor and Mike Tyson when building the ticket department.

George is/was a red ass about ticket protocols. It's kinda hilarious that the players didn't know who he was.

Funny....during the 2003 renovation it was revealed the Bears record-keeping books of season ticket holders was a complete clusterfuck. They had tons of missing information on history and who had how many tickets for x number of years. Many season ticket holders were given the option of either Club or non PSL in the nosebleeds. My family went through this....it was complete chaos. That was the great George's department.
