I let it dry out and use it for bread crumbs, so yes in a round about way.

Yeah, I'm a parent. If I didn't eat the end I'm not sure I'd ever get bread after my boys, affectionately referred to as the locusts, sweep through the kitchen.

You people still eat bread? No wonder obesity is the leading cause of Covid deaths.

I'm not anti-heel loaf but i don't eat it. I stick it in a jar of brown sugar to keep the brown sugar fresh. I don't know the science behind it but it works.

It's a no for me. On another note, does bread get moldy anymore? I swear some of the bread we get like Brownberry seemingly never ages and I'm not sure that's a good thing.

Depends how I feel. Kids don't care so usually give it to them on their sandwiches

Love me some bread heel, use them both on sloppy sandwiches.

I have been ordering burgers in a tortilla wrap rather than a bun of late.

i've noticed that, too. but we did get some "organic" "natural" whole wheat bread that did get mold within 2 weeks. i think i may need to continue buying that brand but now i can't remember what it was.

I don't eat much bread at home but I prefer the ends to the middle of the loaf.

We always called it the pope's nose (no idea if that is derogatory or why) but that was for an Italian or French loaf. I think the culinary term for a normal pullman style loaf is heel but I can't remember.

when you make cookies, you use the heel of the loaf to put in the tin. The bread gets dry but the cookies stay moist.

I recall growing up the Pope's nose in our house referred to some meaty part adjacent to bones in a chicken. But googling it up it seems to actually refer to the tail of the chicken.
