I wasn't really impressed with his calls yesterday, but Josh Allen was locked into legend mode.

I actually worry about them making a snap hire based on what the current "hot candidate of the day" is. I don't know much about the guy but his track record seems good. I just think it is really important to get the right fit with the GM and the organization, not just the flavor of the day.

It seemed like every big play Allen made came outside the framework of the offense. Allen's play was the embodiment of Brett Favre's maxim that "It's the quarterback's job to overcome bad coaching."

That's pretty dumb. If my race for head coach is a tie between black assistant from a division rival and a white assistant from another team I'm hiring the white guy, why give my rival a 3rd rounder?

I believe that it is just for front office guys, but I completely agree. I would not hire hire anyone away from a division or conference rival.

Is there a limit? Can we hire like 10 minority candidates to all be co-GM so we can solve our draft pick issues?

That's what the Colts are doing.

Oh. I read it wrong. I thought you got an extra pick for making a hire like that.

I'm surprised no one has hired a coach yet. Especially the Jaguars. It's as if no one wants to make the first hire.

Every time I here Morocco Brown, I think Moroccan, as in Moroccan Restaurant. Has anyone ever been to one of those restaurants? What a filthy culture.

George McCaskey went to the airport to pickup Ryan Poles. I guess that says a lot about what the Bears think about him. I don't know if another Chief is a great idea. He's younger than Jason Peters and he's only been with 1 organization. Besides, the Chiefs have missed A LOT since Dorsey left. In fact, all they've done is miss.

Biggs just said the last time the Bears hired a GM, they had the candidates stay at a hotel near Halas Hall then take the hotel shuttle to Halas Hall.

George is changing that. He's carrying a sign with Poles name on it.

It's a PR stunt and George clearly thinks it is 1999. No one goes inside an airport to pick up anyone except someone receiving a foreign relative arriving in America for the first time.

Poles definitely seems to be the hot name right now. He has connections to Flores as well.

Who knows.

Have they even interviewed Rick Smith? He seems like a name that has not had any traction which makes zero sense

What has Poles done in the past 4 years? The Chiefs have been AWFUL drafting. The Bears should have reached out to John Dorsey.

Hotel shuttles can be nice. Sometimes you get a free bottle of water. That could help sell a GM candidate with solid Midwestern values as shown through the protocols of a Holiday Inn Express.

They’re going for seconds on the Ryan/Matt combo platter.

I know next to nothing about Poles and have zero desire for that to change.

FWIW, 2021 2nd rounder, Creed Humphrey might be the best center in football already

How could we possibly know who’s responsible for which picks? Veatch is the only sub-GM exec I can recall getting blown far & wide for his draft input on Mahomes.

Jonathan Taylor and DK Metcalf were passed over for CEH and Nicole Hardman. No chance Dorsey makes those mistakes.

Absolutely. I advocated for this a couple months ago. He is currently working in the Lions front office, though I suspect he'll be running the whole operation in the next year.

I heard somebody on the NFL channel--can't remember who it was--say that it was Poles who persuaded Reid to pull the trigger on Mahomes. Poles supposedly loved Mahomes and bombarded him with Mahomes highlights until Reid buckled.

It's no small feat to get Reid buckled.

He's EASILY the best guy on the market. Let him run the entire organization. Sure, he'll piss off everyone he works with and leave in 5 years, but your organization will be stacked with studs.

It is really hard to judge the GM candidates. No one really knows what they have done and not done in their respective organizations.

Maybe Poles will be great, maybe he will be awful.

I am more interested in who they hire as coach.

Clearly Dorsey is a surly old school football prick, probably why he and Ted Thompson got along so well, that has issues getting along with others, but he seems to know football talent very well.

Yeah, in most cases, all we have are rumors and conjecture to support a given candidate.

That's why a more senior figure such as Dorsey would be an excellent choice. His track record speaks for itself.
