No experienced/savvy GM candidate is going to want to work for the Bears. That's why the past two GMs are first-timers in their 30s. First-timers in their 30s aren't going to say no to the Bears. They wouldn't say no even if they were told they'd report to the shirtless "Bear Weather" fat guy with the Ditka mustache in the end zone seats.

That is why this guy sucks. Get your heads out of the sand.

I don’t feel like this is a unique opinion

Most GMs are first-timers. You pretty much get one shot at being one. It's not like coaching.

Dorsey got a second chance because he was fired for being too mean to people in the hallways.

I'm traveling and not plugged into local chatter, so not sure what the usual suspects are saying.

There is this unthinking, lazy sense of irrational excitement when hiring a rookie GM that drives me crazy. There is literally no data, no stats, no record to assess for this dude. Just like with Pace. The only thing the Bears are milking is that the dude comes from KC. But janitors and nutritionists also work for KC - would we be excited if we hired them too as GM? Who gives a shit that he comes from KC? How do we know what the fuck he did and didnt do? What if he had no idea about draft strategy because he was in charge of flipping through the strategy PowerPoint rather than drafting it? No reason for excitement whatsoever. Fuck the Bears

People don’t seem happy with the hire. At least here.

Unless you’re loho and you default to people’s work ethic depends on their race.

As you sort of allude to, none of us really know shit about front office people and how good they will be. You trashing the hire here is as equally silly as anyone being irrationally excited as you put it.

Put it this way - there’s more to dislike about the hire than to like, particularly with their recent history.

Andy Reid doesn't get to work early because he never leaves the building. No wonder they didn't try to hide him or give him some kind of promotion to keep him. The Chiefs also got those 2 bonus 3d round picks for him. Good teams always find ways to hold on to the front office people they want to hold on to. The last guy I can recall leaving a team where they really didn't want to let him go was Ballard and it took a few years for it to happen. My question is why wasn't Poles impressive enough for Ballard to take him with to Indy?

Probably a mobility issue. KC is notoriously lax on ADA compliance.

Ignore him. He's desperately trying to come to terms with the arrival of the Jordan Love Era by feigning knowledge of the Bears' GM selection process.

Ryan Poles is probably not good because the Chiefs let him go to the Bears for a major promotion but Ryan Poles is probably not good because the Chiefs didn't let him go to the Colts for a small promotion.

So this guy's signature move is to sign a DC from a middling franchise to lead a team bereft of offensive talent and personnel.

I can't wait for the season to start! So much to be excited about
