Anybody know which teams interviewed Daboll? Or more importantly, how many 2nd interviews he's had? Does this guy suck at interviewing?

Damn, alright. I bet some Bills fans feel he played too tight, ran the ball a little too much last week. It was clear Allen could do anything he wanted throwing the football. If he takes the Dolphins job to be with Tua, that would confuse me.

He's a frumpy, not particularly well spoken guy. Less capable people confuse that with inability at the job he is being interviewed to perform.

Bill Belichick isn’t exactly known for his oratory skills .

People prefer guys who look good and do well in front of a camera today.

These guys were hired in a different era and are only around today because they had success.

He’s also a guy with a pretty good track record, so it’s quite the flex to try to force him out for his friend.

Yeah, was the GM in SF before Lynch.. a rookie coach trying to get him ousted.

Nearly everyone in Jacksonville seems to hate Baalke. From players to fans. Who knows what's true or not though.

NFL legend Byron Leftwich should absolutely get to hand-pick his boss.

The Jaguars are normally such a well run organization that we should trust them to already have a championship level organization ready for Leftwich to walk in to.

Definitely letting a first-time coach come in and choose his own front office is the recipe for success. I’m sure you are right.

They are free to pick another coach then if Trent Baalke is that important to the Jaguars.

The Khans can use it as an excuse to get more involved if things really are as bad with Baalke as it seems.

If you really think Leftwich is the guy who can make the most out of Lawrence and the offense then do it.

I think the strange part is that the GM isn't making the hire there at all.

"Byron, we want to hire you as coach"
"I accept on the condition that you get fired"

That was probably a little awkward.

Comforting to know that the Bears aren't the only dysfunctional organization out there.

Jags fans seem to really hate Baalke. I had no idea. Scanning a few stories, it seem like Harbaugh was the more reasonable one in that relationship.

NY Giants would like to remain in the "Dysfunctional" club
https://www.bigblueview.com/2022/1/27/2 ... ing-search

They hired a GM (Joe Schoen). Cannot disagree with his selection. Now they are figuring out head coach. Ownership has final say on HC based on recommendation by GM Schoen. Lots of Bears-vibe use of the word "collaboration"
Daboll, Flores, Frazier are the favorites right now.

I watched Schoen's press conference and while he seems like a pretty bright, enthusiastic guy, he did say some worrisome things that don't inspire complete confidence that they are making the changes John Mara initially seemed open to. He acknowledged that he does not have complete control of football operations and will need to "collaborate" with ownership. Mara clearly stated his only sign-off he is going to give is if incoming players/coaches had known legal or character issues. I am now more worried that Chris Mara and Kevin Abrams are still going to be throwing their weight around after hearing Schoen's presser. I still think it is a great opportunity, I do believe that the Mara's want to win and get things turned around, but some alarm bells started going off as I listened to Schoen speak. Owners always are going to have final say on any team, I just hope they get away from micro-managing and let this new guy do his thing.

The fact that Leslie Frazier is still in serious consideration should be troubling

Abrams is the guy that really needed to go. He is the unnecessary layer between Schoen and Mara, and he signed off on a lot of the terrible decisions Gettleman ran this club into the ground with.

I would agree with that, but last night I was listening to some Giants-related podcasts that broke the candidates down in-depth, and while he isn't my first choice, he has done some pretty good things with that Buffalo defense. I think he is a long-shot anyway, its going to be Daboll or Flores in my opinion.
