Not surprising that the Mara kids lied.

Well, we will see. Having a competent young GM with a strong coaching staff would be a great first step. I do like that they are immediately supporting Daniel Jones. Roll with him for a year and address QB next year if needed (which it probably will be).

I think they want to package him in a trade. He theoretically has more value IF the Giants still believe in him. The character thing that was brought up tells me that the Mara's killed talk about Watson.

Who would trade for him? At best he has been serviceable and at worst he has been injury- and turnover-prone. This upcoming season with the Giants will be his last crack at proving himself. He is cheap and used to getting his ass kicked on a bad team. No need to worry about that position this year unless you take a flyer on a QB in round 3 or later.

Kirk Cousins and Sam Darnold were traded for Draft picks....anything is possible

I guess the point I am making is that this team is light-years away from being "a QB away" from being relevant. Keep the guy you have an rebuild the team around him. If he sucks but the team shows improvement around him, address the QB next year. Trading any kinds of draft equity for an "established" QB would be pointless.

What do you expect from Barkley?

I expect this to be his last year with the Giants. The team is hamstrung with cap issues, no way they are paying him big money in a long-term contract. In my opinion they should try to build up the bones of this team with O-line and D-line/linebackers and next off-season address skill positions. Who knows, maybe Barkley comes all the way back in year two after his surgery. I'm not banking on it.

Agreed on both your points.

They'll be better than the Bears soon.

I'm not sure on the new Vikings GM, a bit too wonky for me maybe...But, I do like that he brought in someone not previously interviewed for the head coaching position. It shows that he has some leeway beyond the names that the Vikings previously have interviewed.

I'll take any of the below 3 for the job.

Todd Bowles

Raheem Morris

DeMeco Ryans

I think the GM wanted Flores. I think Flores only wanted the job if they would trade for Watson. Which they have the draft capital to do. I think management came out and forcefully vetoed the trade based on character. I don't think Flores was willing to come without Watson.

Sounds like the Giants made the right call.

Maybe. They better hit home runs with these draft picks. Watson and Barkley would be interesting.

Did Daboll make Allen great or did Allen make Daboll great?

The QB sweeps that Buffalo runs are a thing of beauty, but a large percentage of their biggest pass plays come outside the framework of the offense because Allen is fucking awesome. And their conventional running plays are pretty pedestrian. So to me the real question is whether Daboll's role in Allen's development was causal or merely coincidental. I tend to think the answer is more the latter than the former. I do like the fact that he doesn't get in Allen's way, though.

Barkley's knee wasn't healthy last year and then he fucked up his ankle. I think he'll be fine next year. Watson will settle this offseason for around $15M.

Barkley was healthy this year and was worse than Devontae Booker. Watson’s legal mess isnt over and its generally a good idea to avoid acquiring a very expensive QB with 23 criminal charges pending as your first move as GM

Watson is toxic and I wouldn’t go anywhere near him. Barkley was healthy in that he was on the field, but he clearly didn’t have the pizzaz he had pre-injury. He had a few moments and it is possible next year he gets closer to what he once was but thank GOD they had Booker because that guy ran hard. Booker was their offensive MVP last year in my opinion (him or Andrew Thomas, who quietly became a beast last year). I don’t know shit about Schoen or Daboll but I know they both seemed to be top targets so here hoping. I don’t think they were ever going to hire a defensive-minded coach, not after what the giants have just gone through.

He blew out his knee a year ago. Before his knee injury, he was a top 3 RB.
