Fields needs to be developed properly.

What happened here?

I agree to the outside observer Daboll seems like the better hire but nobody knows anything. Buffalo was killed for hiring Sean McDermott and that was a great hire.

I do not agree with the idea the HC needed to be an offensive guy. HC and OC are entirely different positions and skill sets.

Poles will have a much bigger impact on setting Fields up for success than the HC and that would be true regardless of who they hired as HC

I agree with this.

I wanted Daboll, but no one really knows.

Will be interesting to see how the 2 teams progress from this point. New GMs and new coaches in the same offseason. Who does a better job and who is looking for a new coach first

I probably watched 7 games all year, the Bears disgust me. I have followed this horseshit hiring very loosely..that said, am I correct in saying that ...

Dipshit Mccaskey and Phillips interviewed coaches before the GM was hired..and this GM hired one of the interviewees.

I think Denver is really going to like Hackett. He has done well for himself in GB and even in Jacksonville where he had some good years. He also has some pedigree as Paul Hackett's son. He is a nice guy coach though so I am sure that George and Ted said no way to him based on that. Depending on who is back the Bears are not going to have an easy locker room to win over on the defensive side. Those guys could have given a fuck about Nagy last year or even the team. That was a very selfish defense on the field and in the locker room. There were quite a few great individual plays and performances but there were also lots of penalties, ridiculous celebrations and also untimely laziness. Getting rid of Hicks and Jackson and even Johnson as talented as he seems might be the best for getting the locker room in order. Johnson is young enough that he might be ok but Hicks and Jackson are both dogs when they want to be and that corrupts the entire unit eventually.

Aside form A Rob (who will be in GB shattering Adams' records next year) the offense seems like a good group that the coaches can work with. By going with a hard ass defensive coach they can reclaim some of the salvageable talent and move forward without the rest. At least the best player on D IMO, Roquan, seemed like he always gave a shit about winning, his teammates and his play.

Umn that might be your dumbest post ever.

A Rob shattering Adams records is just country dumb. I still think A Rob is good but that guy isn’t catching 20 TDs in a season from anyone.

Frank and TM went back and forth on this in another thread but Hicks played his ass off at the end of the year with no motivation other than professional pride. It’s simply wrong to say he quit on them

I was clearly kidding about ARob but he almost went to GB and he would be a good wr with them provided Rodgers is his QB. With 17 games there are going to be some crazy stats for anyone that stays healthy. Hicks did play his ass off.....for HIMSELF. Once the season got out of hand he started playing out of his ass. He also threw down with a coach which is not exactly a great thing to have happen.

 Rodgers isnt coming back and your Hicks post again makes no sense, just admit you’re reaching. The Bears are dysfunctional as hell, no need to make shit up in order to shit on them

I can't come up with a realistic exit strategy for him. He is such a finicky bitch when it comes to the entire offense that surrounds him that I can not see him wanting to work with 10 new starters let alone all the reserves. It would take at least a season and a half for him to gain trust with all those guys.

Maybe I am reaching with Hicks. He just seemed to get really inspired when it really didn't matter. He was also finally healthy then as well. He is as good as gone for his fight with the coach so it doesn't matter now. I was just saying that is not a voice I would want in my locker room if I were a new HC regardless of his talent.

I would love to have Hicks in my locker room.

I think you’re giving Rodgers too much credit. He’s not thinking of it like that imo. He wants out and after he was the main reason we lost this postseason it seems like an ideal time to part ways if we can get a couple firsts and another piece or two.

Hicks was like a lot of the guys under Nagy/Pace in that once he got paid his play declined.

We have been hearing a lot about the lack of accountability and lack of attention to detail under Nagy and you could see just that with a lot of the defensive players who looked to go stat hunting and failed to play assignment based team football, Hicks was one of those guys, but hard to blame him at times as the D was out there way too much as Nagy's offense sputtered.

Wondering if they move on from both Hicks and Goldman and try to put that paper into two more consistent guys that fit the new coaches scheme. Hicks likely signs elsewhere and puts up good numbers if he is used correctly, but highly doubt he holds up physically for a full season, but as a situational guy on passing downs he should thrive.

It’s possible they didn’t think he’d be a good head coach. No NFL team should be shopping for a head coach with only 1 player in mind. A head coach should be hired with the entire team in mind. That said, it’s the Bears so there could also be nothing more than complete idiocy that lead to the whole process right down to its conclusion.

We’ll never know for sure. All we’ll get in the coming months or even years are rumors from unnamed sources.

You make some good points.

I guess I should have said the offense and Fields need development.
