It will never stop being funny to me that Jon Gruden was fired for calling goodell a burrito.

I disagree. I don't think there was a person alive who didn't think he did a great job with those Dolphins teams. His possible personality issues shouldn't get in the way of that. A lot of coaches are insane.

That was the ceiling for those teams because of the offense. And you can't improve your offense or young QB when you're changing coordinators at that rate.

I wouldn't even call that the ceiling. The Dolphins had a roster that shouldn't have won a game during the Burrow draft year. Also, it kinda hard to have success when your starting quarterback sucks and his teammates openly talk about him sucking.

I hate mentioning this, but I had something eerily similar to this happen to me awhile back.

If you’re a disagreeable hardo, you start off in a hole. Add in the coordinator issues and a very successful (or potentially accurate) media campaign to smear him as an ass and it’s reasonable he didn’t immediately get a job.

I’d love to hear Watson (or whichever exceptional QB is referred to in the lawsuit) on the aborted yacht blind date.

Fair enough. But, the personality problem you mentioned was fair game for teams. If it turns out that Chris Grier or Ross is the issue, that will come out. Harbaugh was thought to be the problem in San Francisco. It took years and Baalke being an issue at Jacksonville before people started to say that maybe Harbaugh wasn't at fault. Maybe they should have fired Grier instead of Flores, but that's to be determined.

The weird angle is that Schefter previously reported it was Ross who didn’t want Watson, not Flores. So was this Shefter carrying water for Ross/the NFL?

I think the personality narrative was easy to push with Flores because he's from the Belichick tree. It's the reason why I bought it.

It looked like the Dolphins owner was trying to create "cause" to fire Flores because he didn't tank. That's troubling if true.

Right. You could convince me Ross caught wind of Flores’ plans to sue and planted that story. Or knew Flores had the goods on him from that $100k offer and went with the preemptive attack.

Hub just told Parkins that even if the Ross tank story is true, it probably doesn’t violate any rules. Lol.

NFL Network hasn't mentioned this at all today. All about Tom Brady.

I think he wasn't interested in violating a rule that would give the Dolphins cause to fire him. The Dolphins didn't have the team to make Brady consider joining them. They still don't 3 years later.

From what I read it was after the Pats got eliminated that year but before FA started so it would’ve been tampering for Flores to meet with Brady. Im sure its the type that teams do all the time though

Bill Belicheck as a whistle-blower is surprising until you realize he probably hates the Giants.

So he cost the dolphins both Brady and Burrow?

I don’t recall any specific comments on the NY McCaskeys, but he was borderline emotional about his time with the organization.

I am aware that Flores isn't balck balck, but why is it outrageous for him to cite racial bias in the hiring process in the NFL? There are roughly 1200 black players in the NFL and a high percentage in elite college football. This has been true for decades. However, there is currently only 1 black coach in the NFL and few at elite college programs. Even with the Rooney Rule in the NFL, blacks and former black players haven't been able to climb into the head coaching ranks. Looking at the high turnover rate in the NFL, I doubt competence is the only issue.

Imagine a league made up of 70% women, Asians, Hispanics, dwarfs or any other group of people, but they only represent 3% of leadership. Most would question it. Women would probably burn the place down.
