Joe Brady was in line to be QB coach, but sounds like he's going to the Giants.

Very impressive. I wonder what guys had to say about Matt Nagy...

CHIEFS HEAD COACH ANDY REID:

"I'm proud of Matt and the tireless amount of selfless work he put in to earn this opportunity. He has a creative football mind and feel for the game. I know he'll show up every day ready to lead his team with the right attitude and give Chicago everything he's got. I'm excited to see him begin his career as a head coach in this league, and I know he'll have great success with the Bears organization."

CHIEFS GM BRETT VEACH:

"I have known Matt for more than 20 years as a friend, teammate and colleague. I was with him when he started his journey in the NFL, and to see him climb the ranks and achieve his goal of becoming a head coach is outstanding. Matt is passionate and motivated, and as a former player he has a great feel for the locker room. Chicago is not only getting a great coach, they are getting a tremendous husband and father. I'm excited for Matt, Stacey and their boys. He'll be a great addition to the Chicago Bears organization and the community."

Hated the way Poles started the press conference. Looking for a brother? WTF...you'll be looking to fire him if he sucks. Get a clue dumbass. Lack of foresight and maturity there. Any smart GM knows you gotta walk a balance between being an advocate for your HC but also being his supervisor whose performance you're assessing. By calling him brother you just indicate you have no idea what you're doing.

He also approached answering strategy questions like a guy who stumbles upon doing something right and misses out on why that thing is working right. He doesn't seem like a thinker, more of a meat and potatoes kind of doer. Give me a thinker at GM.

I argue, fight with and criticize my brothers all the time but we stay together because we know where it is coming from

Apparently Poles agrees with me (and several of my Bears brothers) about Teven Jenkins protection of Fields during that Viking game, and some of the less enthusiastic protectors will be on the chopping block.

At Loyola or Mt. Carmel?

Alan Williams was the DC for the Vikings in 2013. Under his leadership, the Vikings gave up the most points in the NFL and just missed setting the league's all-time single season record for most points allowed.

This is quite a brain trust we're assembling here.

Send Ifedi packing immediately. It's great to see our GM understands the importance of protecting our quarterback and setting the tone in the trenches.

I'm starting to get a feeling about Poles that I like all the way down in my meatballs.

Rogers is leaving the division in time because a Poles team would respond to "I own you" with some Forest Gregg end of the whistle plays.

Yeah, Ifedi going after Jenkins for protecting Fields was disgraceful. The Bears offensive line let opposing players take cheap shots on Fields all season.

The Bears are going to have a full coaching staff before most teams hire a coach. I imagine that has to be a positive.

Having a meatball as GM will probably be as good as having an actual meatball as GM.

Rodgers will still own us, just with another jersey.

Did anyone ask him in the press conference if he has final say on the 53 man roster and transactions?

Not sure if the meatball can count to 53.

He'll be fine. He's building an actual football team. Both guys sound like they understand football more than Nagy and Pace ever did. #Progress

Champ Kelly to Raiders.

Albert Breer
@AlbertBreer
The @Raiders
announce the hire of Bears exec Champ Kelly as their new assistant GM. Kelly worked with Vegas GM Dave Ziegler and coach Josh McDaniels in Denver about a decade ago.

Kelly's been part of the plan for the start. Raiders get their man.

Sadly, the Bears won't get any compensatory picks since Kelly is not being hired for GM.

I always like how these reports always have to reference who these people once interacted with.

It’s like a very, very serious version of the ‘met at a hotel room in Raleigh, N.C.’ bit.

Two 3rd Round Picks! BOOM!

They get 2 picks for him leaving?

I spoke too soon. The Bears won't receive any compensationo since he has been hired as Assistant GM rather than GM.
