Great win.

There's one on Mattis. I've never been to it but I heard it's not as good.

That's where LaBamba is now too. Haven't been to that one either.

The Garcia's on Mattis is just sad. Or at least it was when I stopped in there in 2018.

Mattis & University. Didn't know they were still around. Old dude there said it was there since 1988.

It was pretty good. Good prices.

When everything else was closed, it looked delicious. When I stumbled upon it and saw it was open, it was like being on a deserted island and finally a boat passes by and rescues u.

probly compared to other places when they're open. But in that moment, it was perfect. I liked it and would go again.

Oh I understand. I drove over from Bloomington one day when I was taking a training class, and I wasn't going to get an entire Papa Del's for myself. So two slices of Garcia's it was.

The pizza seemed the same, the location was just bad.

I do remember one over there. The one on 2nd and Green (or First and Green) was the one my dad loved to go to when he visited. Would take two large pizzas with him.

I think there was one at the south end of campus, kinda by Lincoln Ave. Residence Hall.

Mattis & University. Didn't know they were still around. Old dude there said it was there since 1988.

Is that the same LaBamba that was on Wright St.? Not sure I have the street right. They just moved out there? Seems like a strange place to move to, unless they didn't want to deal with the students any more.

They were in the Skylight entry then moved to 6th Street eventually.

Had a place in Lincoln Park when I lived there in the mid-90s. Now...nowhere to be found except Mattis.

There is a La Bamba's downtown. Basement food court in 105 West Madison.

I'm old enough to remember the Garcia's on Wright across from Altgeld Hall. That one was slices only, but I always preferred the slices to the whole pizzas. If I was 'flush" with cash and tired of the dorm food, I'd stop in for a slice after class and then make my way back south.

Ah, the ol' Skylight. I cleared a way to the bar there one night by lighting up a horribly smelling cigar. Stayed right there at the bar the rest of the night but ran out of cigar. Didn't need it any longer. :D

me too. I loved that place. I liked the upstairs too. It was somethin' of a low-brow (*cough*) under-the-radar contrarian place to Papa Johns.

over 14,000 paid attendance at the damn game.

However, it was reported that 6600 actually showed up.

Not bad for a snowy night. But I still expected more for a Top 25 matchup.
