However, it was reported that 6600 actually showed up.

Not bad for a snowy night. But I still expected more for a Top 25 matchup.

You're all over the place.

Take a position and defend it.

Only 6600 people out of 14000 paid actually showed up.

I drove 3.5 hours in snowy and icy roads and made it. Anybody that didnt show up is a puss.

How's that?

Where is the Garcia's? There used to be a bunch of them when I was on campus.

I do remember one over there. The one on 2nd and Green (or First and Green) was the one my dad loved to go to when he visited. Would take two large pizzas with him.

I think there was one at the south end of campus, kinda by Lincoln Ave. Residence Hall.

Mattis & University. Didn't know they were still around. Old dude there said it was there since 1988.

I'm old enough to remember the Garcia's on Wright across from Altgeld Hall. That one was slices only, but I always preferred the slices to the whole pizzas. If I was 'flush" with cash and tired of the dorm food, I'd stop in for a slice after class and then make my way back south.

I remember that location as well.

me too. I loved that place. I liked the upstairs too. It was somethin' of a low-brow (*cough*) under-the-radar contrarian place to Papa Johns.

Upstairs was a good place to chill for a little bit in a pre computer world.

Green Street now is unrecognizable from the mid 80s, except that somehow Zorba's is still there.

The thing I miss the most is Deluxe (which pretty strictly forbid U21 so it was mostly graduate students and staff) and their Friday fish sandwich which was a heart attack on a bun but so damn good. I've never found an equally good and equally horrible for you fish sandwich.

Legends supposedly serves the Deluxe recipe fish sandwich on weekends but I’ve never been there at the right time to try it.

Murphy’s is still there on Green. But they expanded into the next building so it’s twice as big.

Been to both places. Murphy’s felt the same. I tried the fish sandwich many years ago but don’t recall how close it was to the Deluxe version. It’s probably not spot on but not far off either.

Apparently Garcia's was started by 2 rock n rollers tryin' to make a buck on the side to pay for their lifestyle.

Makes me wonder if should ever have trusted their pizza.

A bit of their history here:
