Its a broken bat. I'm not sure why he calls it that, but thats what he means by it.

Neither the Twins or the Sox deserve to be in the Postseason. Its amazing to me that the Sox could clinch tommorow.

Frank, how could the Sox clinch tomorrow?

If they win and the twins lose they will be a 1/2 game up, and thus have to play and beat the Tigers on Monday to clinch....right? Then if they lose to the Tigers, they would have to beat the Twins on Tues?

Yeah. They have to play Monday unless they lose tommorow.

Watch them both lose tommorow

The only way the Sox do not play on Monday, is if the Sox lose and the Twins win on Sunday. Then the Twins clinch. If they both win or both lose, the Sox still play Monday and if the Sox win and the Twins lose, the Sox will lead by 1/2 game, but still have to play on Monday.

I have never seen 2 teams so thoroughly determined NOT to win a division....

And then they'd have to play a tie-breaker on Tuesday, leaving no days off.

This is amazing

Sox might not have to play Tuesday. Depending on who has the 1/2 game lead after tomorrow.

If Sox win and Twins lose tomorrow sox have 1/2 game lead. Sox win on Monday they win the division.

Guess what? Cliff Lee is officially scratched. Just read that on MLB.com. I was in a bar with no sound for the game. Didn't know that until now. That's huge!!!!! Yes!!! We play a "no name" guy making his 5th MLB start. Only his 2nd start this year. He got rocked in that start. Bryan Bullington. He's 28 years old (actually he'll be 28 in 2 days). Came up with the Pirates a couple of years ago as an old rookie. He sucked there too. I know yesterdays guy sucked too and he shut us down for a while. Still, this ass hole is better for us than Cliff Lee.

Guess who's pitching for the Tigers on Monday? Freddy Garcia. I think that's his 3rd start this year. He got rocked in one of them.

Beleive it or not I'm confident. Hey, the offense hasn't been choking the last 3 games. We've scored 6,8 and 6 runs the past 3 games. Should have been good enough.

I'm actually happy. Didn't think it would be this way but I thought we'd be in this position when this series started. 2 straight loses for Sox and Twins? Nobody thought it would go down like that.

Buehrle tomorrow. Floyd on Monday. Danks if we need him on Tuesday (hopefully we won't and Danks can open the playoffs). Jenks is rested. 2 straight days off for him. Dotel is fresh too.

We're gonna do it.

See you guys tomorrow for NFL/Sox Sunday. Gonna be fun.

Maybe I'm the eternal optimist, but the way I look at is no matter how god-awful horrible it's been, they now "control" it with potentially 3 games left. Whether they are 120-40 or 80-80, the playoffs are theirs with 2 or 3 wins. I do feel like I need to watch these games with paper bag over my head though.

i am definitely not the kind of fan beardown is.

i wallow in misery, and i don't like to see my team be as bad as the sox have been, and want to root for them just to make the playoffs.

if the cubs were doing this right now (and god knows they have in the past), i'd be breaking things, or hiding in a corner of a room somewhere.

W_Z,

Here's how I look at it. I've been rooting for them for 160 games now. They could have finished this poorly and been 5 games out with nothing on the line today. As it is, they're a couple wins from the playoffs, so why give up now?

Because the Sox have.

I see Buerhle has given up his usual solo home run. Sox haven't had a hit yet and I'm sure this no-name pitcher on the Indians will look like Cy Young today.

Why is DJ so excited about a sac fly, they needed him to bang a double into the corner and clear the bases. A sac fly is OK, but not great.

I'll take it at this point.

Buehrle and Javy this season have been notorious for getting runs, then giving them right back. Need a 1-2-3 here.

Another at bat by Wise with runners on base and he does nothing. All the while Anderson is getting splinters in his ass.

Agreed. Anderson could do no worse.

Big DP there

Anderson might do nothing out there too, but at least give him a chance when Wise is not doing anything.

Very nice DP , but what worries me is they are hitting ball hard against Buherle, hopefully they will keep hitting em right at people.

BA must have really pissed someone off to never get playing time.
Hopefully K Griff and Swish will be gone next year for him to play everyday.

He is. All the more reason to have your absolute BEST defense out there (i.e., Anderson starting in CF, Swisher at 1st if they have a lead late in the game)
