Damn, this one sucks. I loved when Lanegan used to tour with QOTSA. Saw them 3 times with him back in the day. I was hoping he would get back on tour with them someday.

He probably should have died about 3 or 4 times before. Glad he was finally able to get his life together for a while. It was pretty dark for him for a long time.

Sounds like we nearly lost him then.

Pretty much. When you're living on the street as a heroin/crack addict, and Courtney Love of all people scoops you up and gets you into rehab, the only notch lower is death.

And for all that I know is that we finally did.

His ironically titled solo album, Bubblegum, was also a decent record. His voice had a lot of character in it.

sounds like dire straights

I really know nothing about the music scene. You guys mention groups and people I have never heard of.

His sound and the Screaming Trees' sound are quite a bit different than Dire Straits, although I'm a fan of Dire Straits as well. If you were into the early 90's grunge scene, you would have heard of him, if you weren't, you would have no reason to know him.

I was familiar with him through the Gutter Twins with Greg Dulli. Frankly, I'm surprised both of them aren't gone.

I was, but I never get into the people behind the music. I never bought Rolling Stone or any other music magazine in my youth and we didn't have cable so I only watched MTV at other people's houses.
