Braidwood cooling lake south of Joliet opens on March 1st. The water will be in the 50s and 60s and the fish will be very active. By the end of the March I'll be headed to Southern Illinois for an extended trip.

Brought my boat in to get some preventative maintenance done a few weeks back. Yesterday, I started in on the driverway since my fishing season starts in a couple weeks. My boat will not go into gear. They forget to hook up something with the linkage. So I'll now have to take it back which is a good 45 minute drive away. Probably cost me $50 in gas and 3 hours of driving time. Think I'll ask them to change my oil for my troubles. At least I didn't discover it at the lake on my first day of fishing of the year. I probably would not have handled that too well.

Don't they have a mobile mechanic? MANY boats can't just be trailered in to the repair shop. Let them do all the running around.

True, but I am waiting on a non-essential part to get delivered that they are going to replace under warranty. I was always going to have to go back. If the part is delivered when expected, 2-19, I can bring the boat back and have them do both jobs at once. I hadn't really thought about coupling these repairs when I initially posted. I'm hopeful the part comes in on time but we know how things are going with inventory and delivery times. But overall this definitely does not give me confidence that the rest of the work was done properly.

When I retire one day I'll be taking long winter trips to either Florida or Texas every year. At least that is the plan.

My calculus teacher would always say the only thing a little dog is good for is being cat food. I don’t entirely agree with him but my definition of little dog is sub 30 pounds and have rarely been a fan of little dogs despite being a dog person.

Normally I would agree but I learned to like our daughter's schnauzer.

I hate schnauzers. And French Bulldogs. Some little dogs are great. Pugs are funny, King Charles are very friendly, Poms are happy.

I’ve never been a fan of small dogs either. There’s a good chance I’m on my last dog, but if I were to get another I’m pretty sure the wife would only go for a small one.

Small dogs suck.

Cats of any size suck more.

Agree that pugs are generally pretty cool.

Pit Bulls and Rotts can get a bad rap. I've seen chihuahuas that are mean as hell. Annoying little shits.

Lots of hate for my Chihuahua

By comparable standards, mine is really good. She's never come after anyone and actually responds well when other people pick her up. She barks a good amount when someone comes in the house, but not any more than any other dog.

Our friends have 2 Chihuahuas they're complete assholes.

He comes and goes.

He will be here for a month or so starting in April

I hated that little shit at first. He was a rescue dog our daughter felt sorry for.

He nipped my grandson the first time he came over and I got really pissed. I told her next time he may not physically survive.

But I've become buddies with him over the years. They travelled a lot since she had such a hard time getting pregnant. So he would stay for a week or two at a time.

That just reminded me how I picked out a German Shepherd puppy when he nipped me as I was looking through the litter as a yout.

Meanest dog I ever had. He only could stand me, my dad and my dad's office manager.

I really wish people would not live every detail of their life through social media. It seems there is nothing private any more and nothing that is just shared between a couple or family. The need so many have for attention is quite amazing.

 yeah...*sigh*....

We have some friends who were expecting twins. They have been videoing every part of this journey and sharing it on social media with these long dramatic posts. Today they found out that one of the babies died. A few mins after finding this news they are posting videos about it from the doctors office. It is just too much. It makes me cringe. Such a terrible situation, but it should be between the parents and immediate family, not broadcast for the world to see.

Yikes, that seems like it would be something you would need to go home and process together before getting out there and posting anything about it. Ugh...
