Just one game thank you.

1pm Start. WGN 9.

Pitching matchups: Fat Fredy Garcia vs Gavin Floys.

This is Garcia's 3rd start of the season. Long time recovering from surgery. Tigers took a flyer on him.

Should win this. Pathetic if you don't. Tigers are pissed they have to fly here after thinking their season was over.

I'm taking a half day tomorrow to get home for this.

I wonder if the Tigers are going to play tough and try to spoil things for the Sox, or if they're just content with quitting, since it doesn't do anything for them anyway. They might just play their minor leaguers and let the Sox win, so the Sox and Twins have to play yet another game, just to stick it to the Twins.

Nice of them to start it at 1:00... I'm guessing this is because (A) the national Monday night baseball contract doesn't cover past today, and (B) they want to get the game done in time so that, if needed, the Twins can fly in the night before?

It's too bad that this game won't be on ESPN also. I enjoy flipping between the dual annoyances of Hawk and Joe.

Konerko seems to have a history of going on bad spells of about 4 months or so before he comes out of it... and I'd say starting about three or four weeks ago, he's come out of the bad spell. Would be happy to have him in the everyday lineup again.

With Freddy being an in-law of Ozzie's, it will be interesting to see how he pitches tommorow.

The fact that Ozzie didn't convince the Sox to bring him back, after he was cut earlier this season might factor in somehow. Maybe Freddie will try to show them what they passed on. Perhaps Maglio might want to show what a Venezualan piece of ----can do too. I have to guess theTigers will be less than pleased they could not start their vacations already. Hopefully, the Sox players have not dragged this out, just to lose the make-up game and miss the opportunity for the tie breaker.

SOx were interested. They were scouting Freddy, and determined there is no way he was 100%. It wouldn't surprise me if they brought him to Spring Training.

For anybody interested, there are lots of good seats at very reasonable costs for the game against the Twins. I just got 2 tickets, row 6 sec 149 for $75 a pop-- and thats with all the fees.

The line has already moved from -210 to minus 240.

I would bet the Tigers come to play, they do not want to help the Sox at all. But hopefully they lay down and Garcia stinks the place up and the Sox move on easily to Tuesday.

It'll be on ESPN 2 aka "The Deuce!" But I doubt Joe would "lower himself" into doing a "makeup game" between a Chicago team and a last place team. He's a Hall of Famer.

Only thing is, Tigers have nothing to play for. If Freddy sucks, Leyland can yank whenever he wants him because he has the entire pitching staff to work with.

They will come to play but I imagine they will happily roll over if they get down by a couple of runs. There is no way the sox should lose this game. A bad Freddy handing it off to a horrible bullpen is the recipe for sox success.

He is hitting over .300 in the second half.

The Twins website says it will be Blackburn if needed on Tuesday

Liriano went Saturday, Baker went today.

Blackburn was on the ropes Wednesday. They just could not get the big hit off him. Maybe 2nd go around and they will light him up

Blackburn got rocked the 2 games prior to facing the Sox last week. I love that we get him. Like you said, Frank, we hit him but we couldn't score runs.

First things first. Let's rock our old friend Freddy.

Anyone else worried about Gavin on 3 days rest?

Last time he did it, he gave up some runs and got the L.

Win tomorrow, then worry about Tuesday. The Tigers have been the biggest disappointment in MLB this year IMO. But they still have Cabrera, Mags, Granderson, Sheffield,Thames, Renteria and their young catcher Ryan, who has done very well, since they traded Pudge Rodriguez. Freddie Garcia is no Cy Young Candidate, but the Sox are going to have to throttle a pretty potent Tiger offense to some extent, as well as scoring runs themselves, to beat the Tigers. If they can, then start worrying about Tuesdays POSSIBLE game. I hope there is a game on Tuesday (Sox/Twins). I just see people getting ahead of themselves a bit here.

Right, I'm sure those 30+ year old veteran's with big, long term contracts will be up to give it the old college try.

They'd better. The playoffs depend on them winning today and tommorow!

If they win today, I think they beat the Twins. If they beat the Twins, they go to Tampa who will have had 3 days in a row off. Maybe thats an advantage, as they Rays could be a tad rusty.
