I wasnt crazy about his HC hire, I love that he moved Mack, bitter pill to swallow but had to be done..terrible trade, no more trading up, forget this season and dump Jackson, Quinn and do not re sign Hicks. Huge cap room next year, just fortify the O lone this year and add weapons on offense

If they can trade Jackson post 6/1, it looks like they clear an additional $11 million in cap space, which could help in re-signing Roquan, assuming they want him for the long term. They only clear $6 million if they release Jackson after June 1.

Anyone that has a large cap dollar, needs to be traded or released. Use the money in a year or two to rebuild.

Are you saying that you wouldn't extend Roquan?

I do wonder if Roquan will be an Eberflus kind of guy.

He doesn't dog it on the field but it really doesn't look like he has dedication to his craft in the off season.

Still, Eberflus said WILL was the key position for his D and Roquan is a good one.

Sounds like 7 teams wanted Mack, hard to believe we couldnt get a bit more back. I know he missed 10 games last tear but he looked good when he played.

I think the big thing for the bears was the money. SD was probably the best offer taking the entirety of the contract

Saw somewhere the Bears are on track to have something like $120m in cap space next year. I’m not sure there’s an actual good way to spend that money in the NFL.

He's JJ Watt at this point. Be thrilled you got a 2nd for him and someone took that contract.

Also, Mack is 32 but was taken in the 2014 draft, Quinn is 31 but was taken in the 2011 draft. People forget Mack is old

This may not even be a housecleaning if all they do is trade Mack. I still like their pass rush. There are several good veteran MLB on the market that would really make their LB group a strength.

The Bears will be able to get a good look at Trevor Gibson and position themselves to have over $100M to play with the next offseason.

I know you can't gut the whole team but I wouldn't be that disappointed if the Bears traded Roquan. I like Roquan, but he reminds me of a guy like Briggs, a great player, but not a superstar. He's growing into a leader; however, his weight and conditioning worry me. Also, we still don't know what his mental health issue was in 2019.

I dont want them to trade Roquan. He is a nice piece to put in this defense. A guy like Briggs is desperately needed and he has several good years left.

No, I think he is young enough to build around.

At least he appears to recognize sometimes you just need to cut bait and just not continue on with what hasn’t been working to begin with .

Easy to cut bait on guys you had no part in getting to begin with.

The test will be what does he do with his own guys down the road.

But so far so good.

I wonder if he can take a look at Heyward’s contract and start making some calls .

He didn't fit the scheme, and I'm not sure how much he likes football. Poles just freed up enough money to spend on a quality offensive lineman or a really good WR.

Poles is so fucking awesome he might fire Eberflus before he even coaches his first game.

Eberflus is who you hire when Pat Fitzgerald won't return George's calls.

There seems to be a plan in place to be competitive in two years, that of course all hinges on Fields, but looks like Poles is clearing tons of cap space for next year and actually values draft picks which bodes well for the future.

Poles has repeatedly said he likes the second wave of free agency, doesn't make much sense to sign the top older vet when this team will not be competitive for at least a year, look for him to sign younger second or third tier guys that will be around when the team is ready to win, or trade for high priced guys because you have tons of cap room next year.

Was anyone able to find Goldman to let him know he was cut? He drifted often last year and there were times when the team had no idea where he was or how to get ahold of him, he was the poster child for the Ryan Pace doctrine of overpaying guys for modest production, cannot see how Eddie Jackson fits with the new regime that will want guys to hustle and pay attention. There was likely no way Mack was gonna be happy just sealing the edge and playing team defense when he was free to stat hunt and freelance on every down under Nagy.

I read where they are trying to work on Fields throwing motion, to get him to shorten it up. That should be interesting.

I think, if they have a top 5 or top 10 pick next year, you take a LONG look at the QBs available in the draft.
