I think Leury is the main second baseman.

Harrison here was good at a few positions when needed.

Yeah, I don't mind the acquisition. I just don't think he'll be the everyday second baseman. He and Leury provide flexibility.

I disagree. I think he’ll be the regular starter until he plays himself out of the role.

We'll see. It's possible. But I'm gonna say he'll be moving around, playing second, third, DH.

He played six positions last year (all three OF and everything but 1B on the IF). I agree that he won't be an everyday starter but I think he will be valuable around the field.

I'm fine with the Kelly signing, but this team has "regression" written all over it. I want to be optimistic, but that playoff series against Houston highlighted a lot of flaws with the roster.

I thought it was an appropriate year for a bold move. I would have liked a top starter to match up against the best in the playoffs.

They had an 8 ERA. It starts and ends there. Sure, getting pummeled ain't fun, but it's the walks that make me want to punch the TV. I hate it, I hate it, I HATE IT!

 Regression? They won 93 games with only three regulars healthy enough to play 120+ games. They couldn't beat Lance McCullers in a short series, and the Astros had a great offensive game plan. It's beyond ridiculous to say this unfinished roster doesn't look good going into the season, unless you are just trolling.

Nothing says "we are going for it" like upgrading Leury Garcia with a second baseman that has a combined 1.8 fWAR since 2018.

Spiking the ball before you reached the goal line per usual.

Game 1: Lance Lynn 3 2/3 innings, 5 earned runs.
Game 2: Lucas Giolito 4 1/3 innings, 4 earned runs
Game 3: Dylan Cease 1 2/3 innings, 3 earned runs
Game 4: Carlos Rodon 2 2/3 innings, 2 earned runs

Take McCullers out of the discussion. This is not nearly good enough regardless of the opponent.
Now.....let's add in the fact that they still don't have a major league starting 2nd Baseman. They have a defensive liability starting at catcher. They also have a DH overload and a defensive liability starting in left field.

Not trolling. I'm a Sox fan. I just know this team is not going anywhere in the playoffs as currently constructed.

This is really ridiculous analysis. The starters didn't perform well in 4 games last year. They are defensively weak at catcher and left field. Regression!

They have a major league average starter at 2nd. On the list of things to worry about not being great defensively at every position, and a lot of good options at DH are not signs of regression for a 93-win team that is going to hit a lot more home runs this year.

I don't understand why there is some equation that hard throwing = good pitcher. Sometimes it does, other times it does not but it certainly isn't THE barometer.

I really wish I had a glass of WFR's kool-aid. All I know is the team last year proved to be bum-slayers and there is nothing about them going into 2022 that's upgraded. We're going to have the same problems.

I'm not thrilled with the upgrades but there is both a reasonable expectation of progression of several guys who were in their 1-2 year in the league and health for key players. There is no reason this team doesn't win more games than last year. I don't know if that makes them any more dangerous in the playoffs

Do you know what the word regression means? Who is going to be significantly worse this season? Your analysis seems to be they didn't win in the playoffs so that means they won't be as good next year.

Jose Abreu is one guy that will start to decline / regress based on age.

Regular season we had great performances from most of the starting pitching. You hope to see the same and some improvement, but there's always a chance that goes sideways. Dylan Cease is the one I hope takes another step forward.

Regression may be too strong of a word. They weren't good enough and nothing has been done to improve the team, so I certainly don't think they'll win more games. That playoff performance was incredibly disappointing, but I don't think it was an anomaly. They'd have been roughed up by Tampa and Boston quite the same.

They were not roughed up by either. And it’s going to be Robert and Jimenez getting at bats that were going to Goodwin and Hamilton. The off-season isn’t done yet either.
