It's hard to articulate, but some people consider their music generic, corporate/formulaic, and not really influential to other artists. Lyrically, they didn't SAY something, i.e., political, but played it safe. I would disagree with those as criteria for enshrinement, and I think it's arguable whether much of that was even true.

Kudos to Dolly Parton for removing her name from the list of nominees of 2022. She basically asked why the fuck am I even on the ballot....something MANY other non-rock acts should have considered over the years.
