That Chark deal seems more than reasonable.

I don't understand what Poles is doing at WR. Is ARob coming back?

Supposedly, they made a run a Chark. I'm curious if his desire for a 1 year deal made them pass.

That's too bad about Chark He seems like the kind of guy who has a lot of untapped potential.

Apparently the Bears are interested in Smith-Schuster.

ARob to Cleveland.

Looking more and more like he will pick up one or third or fourth tier solid vet WRs in FA and try to draft one early. This year will be about adding building blocks and evaluating Fields.

Poles has no idea what he has on offense, or how the current offensive players will develop under competent coaching, but he has no ties to anyone and has shown he has totally different evaluations on many of the players than Pace.

They will have tons of cap room next year to add one or two top FA's, but they may have to draft or sign a QB if Fields shows he's not the guy this year.

Really thought this would be a 3-5 year rebuild given the sorry post Pace/Nagy state of the franchise, Poles is creating the opportunity to make this happen much faster, but it will only work if he hits on a few playmakers with his early picks.

As long as Fields doesn't suck, I think they'll turn things around in a year or 2.

Seems as if Fields would do well with sneaky open receivers more so that precise timing route guys.

It's reasonable because of the years.

12 million for him is a big number. He has only played in 43 games in 4 years. He has only one 1,000 yard season and barely made it. He has had 2 straight years of regression. He is coming off a major injury.

12 million for Chark seems high, but so does 13.3 million/year for Ogunjobi, especially since he made only 6 million on a one-year deal last season.

I would have preferred that Poles overspend on offense rather than defense since Fields' development needs to be prioritized--that is, unless Poles has decided that Fields isn't going to be the team's long-term QB. If that's the case, though, he should trade Fields before the draft.

He has also played for an awful franchise that had awful quarterbacks. Few would dispute that he's a very talented player. He appears to be betting on himself.

He's a big target that Fields could have used.

Ian Rapoport says Chark is getting 10 million.

I would have preferred Chark for 10 million over Ojubogi for 13.3 million.

Daniels to Pittsburgh where he will be reunited with (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky!

No great loss in my opinion.

I would have really liked Chark for those terms but they had to have a veteran 3T.

I like the idea of pursuing Landry at WR. He's not a burner but he is a superb route runner with sticky hands.

Last season, the Bears' wide receivers struggled to get open. MVS is a big target that knows how to get open. I see no reason to give Landry a big deal. A $40 deal for 5 years should be enough for MVS.

Curious what they are paying him. Glad he's no longer a Bear...never thought he was a #1, and Fields clearly had no chemistry with him.

the released JC Tretter seems like an absolutely perfect fit for center

He's still a very good player but are you willing to go $10M+ for him? That's apparently the going rate.

So what is the plan to give Fields better protection up front and more weapons at receiver? So far all they have done is overpay for a 3 technique

They should be trying to get every offensive weapon even if it’s an overpay. If Fields isn’t good in the 2022 it’s over for him. How many elite qBs have had 2 shit years to start their career? I bet the list is short. I don’t think Poles gets the urgency

This rebuild can survive the being the defense being shit for a few years if the Qb is good, if the QB sucks again the rebuild was dead before it started

Of course they care so much about the QB position they hired a defensive minded head coach(passing on Harbaugh the QB whisperer) and subsequently paired him with an offensive coordinator that has never called plays, at any level

Everyone passed on Harbaugh, and he had to crawl back to Michigan with his hat in hand.

Poles told us what his plan was when it came to free agency. There are still good players on the market. There was no need to blow his load before they understood how the current pieces fit or they are truly ready to compete. They'll have over $100M to spend and draft capital next season. That's when they should swing for the fences.

Fields can still work on being a better quarterback. IF he takes care of the holes in his game and tweaks his leadership skills, I'm confident that the future will be extremely bright. If not, we'll draft a quarterback early in 2023.
