He’s a solid back-up.

A back up most places, but an upgrade at C with the current roster configuration

Fields must of wanted the old regime to stay to have 3 years before he's launched. Now, he'll be judged fairly & honestly with an accelerated smaller window from people who don't need to prop him up. Will he sit more strategically having nagging injuries this year to drag it out more?

Jakeem Grant is going to Cleveland. Too bad, that guy is obviously a great returner and I think he could also have some utility in a limited role on offense.

We still have no idea what the Bears' receiving corps will look like next season. I hope we're going to see some improvement over last year's bottom-of-the-barrel group.

Unless it’s Schuster, I suspect it’ll be worse (if possible) next year.

Poles seems like a line-hardo. That may be a good thing in the next couple years of the rebuild but he hasn’t said anything so far that’d make me think he’ll use much capital on a skill guy until he’s sorted the line situation.

Poles signed this guy.

It will be interesting to see what he does with the line, especially LT. I wouldn't feel comfortable with Borom or Jenkins as the starter. This is another makeshift group that, like the receivers, may be worse in 2022 than it was in 2021.

There are still receivers on the market that are better than A-Rob. We'll get at least 1. Mathieu is the safety we've needed since 2018. That may also mean Eddie Jackson's days are numbered.

I doubt Mathieu will end up with the Bears. Who are the available receivers better than Robinson?

Most haven't signed. I liked Gage and Chark but there are still quality receivers available that will give you more than A-Rob did last season. It will also cost you less.

I get being down on A-Rob after last season but if he ends up with a good QB and decent offensive coordinator he will be back in the Pro Bowl next season.

He hasn't been to a Pro Bowl since 2015. I wouldn't hold your breath on that, with all of these young dynamic receivers all over the NFL.

He's just a solid #2. He benefited from being friends with (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky and the Bears sucking at the position. He couldn't stretch the field or beat a good corner. He was an overpaid Bobby Engram.

Who among that group do you consider to be better than Robinson?

I’d take a flier on an old guy like Green who could potentially teach Fields something. Granted, I don’t know if that actually happens but it sounds nice in theory. Draft high on the line, let him read a defense for more than 2 seconds without guys in his face and pray he’s not forever covered in the Pace/Nagy stink.

I think Juju Smith and MVS are better fits for Fields. I think Landry is also a solid option. I would be a little disappointed if they didn't get any of those guys.

You also must consider that they are likely to draft a WR with one of their two second round picks.

but they are not going to be getting some bell cow, 100 receptions this year, which is OK

Strange people are ok with Fields being saddled with roster devoid of playmakers, again.

This isn't the 2017 Bears.

Mooney is significantly better than any receiver on that team. Those guys were out of football the following year.
