Yep, his best year in the NFL so far was the year he didn't play.

We'll still be saying this at the conclusion of the 2022 season.

All he had to do was completely torch the bears in that pre season game and that is just what he did.

If I heard correctly the Pittsburgh odds got worse after his signing.

Win for (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky and a win for Pittsburgh. The Steelers really didn't have a better option. (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky isn't anything special but he's an upgrade over Mason Rudolph. (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky gets another chance, gets paid, and is with a good Head Coach.

He'll still be a bust.

Even so, Pittsburgh is currently 60-1 at Caesars. Bears are 100-1.

Anything is going to better than the corpse that was Roethlisberger chucking the ball last year, even Mitch.

It would be interesting to know how many fans were genuinely anti-Ben, not just because his arm was completely shot, but also the assault allegations. Did most people not believe the accusations or did they just not care?

Mully and Haugh had a caller named Willy the other day, who talked about how the NFL is morally bankrupt with all the rapists getting a pass and/or second chances...but then Mully jumped in and added Robert Kraft to the list. Seemed like apples and oranges.

Totally agree. Pittsburgh was fucked at QB.

Roethlisberger's stats last year were more or less equal to Mitch's best season in the NFL.

Supporting cast in Pittsburgh was better. Not to mention coaching staff.

Mitch isn't the answer....he's still an upgrade over 2021-Ben and / or Mason Rudolph.....and at a reasonable price.

Ill have to defer to FF as he is such a huge fan of out of town games therefore can evaluate the performance of players on other teams better than I ( see Stafford, Matthew) but in the games I saw, Ben's arm was shot. If his stats were decent they wouldve been all world if he could actually throw the ball like he used to.

I don't think the Pittsburgh situation is as clear as many here believe. The Steelers' offensive line was subpar last year (which helps explain why they view Daniels as an upgrade on the interior). And it's not a given that Canada is actually a good offensive coordinator, though I guess we'll know more at the end of this season. Moreover, while it's certainly true that Roethlisberger couldn't throw the ball last season, he also read defenses much more quickly and effectively than Mitch has ever demonstrated that he can. Finally, we should also remember that Mitch's mobility appeared to decline by his final season with the Bears. Unless this was only a temporary situation, he won't be the same running threat that he was in 2018, a factor that will help defenses attack him more effectively. That said, the Steelers are obviously better at receiver and running back than the Bears were in 2018, and that surrounding talent will help elevate Mitch's play.

The last thing I want to do is give the impression I'm a Mitch apologist. I think he's a bust. At best he's a game manager and clipboard holder. He's young enough to prove me and everyone else wrong, but as you said....he cannot read defenses and make the right decisions.

THAT BEING SAID....let's not downplay what we now know was an absolute cluster-fuck of a coaching staff and football organization. Mitch had a year to learn in a place that seems to know what they're doing. Pittsburgh may have some issues on offensive line, but there is zero chance they were worse than the Bears offensive line and we know their organization is competent and Tomlin got that train wreck of a roster into the playoffs.

So yes....I don't think MItch has it but he's at the best place possible (outside of maybe the Patriots) to prove everyone wrong and redeem himself.

Steelers will finish last in their division unless Watson is suspended for more than a few games.

Could happen, but the last time it actually did happen was 1988.
