We’re going to undertake our internal investigation to determine what, if any, impact this has on the company and we’ll proceed accordingly."

Somehow she’s the one that will get fired.

Other than the claim about Meyer not knowing who Donald and some other top players are, most of this article amounts to people complaining that he was mean to them. An NFL coach is an a-hole? What a surprise!

To me this reads like he was simply being sarcastic or just kidding around. Like the time we went to Barcelona. In one establishment they were all watching a soccer game so, knowing perfectly well who he was, I asked our young, blonde server in my best bumbling Catalonian Spanish, "who is this #10 guy? Is he any good?"

After being told that Lionel Messi was the 'best in the whole world' I had a new best friend (and a few free drinks).

This is why college coaches fail in the NFL. You have to be a likable jerk in the NFL given the power the players have to get you fired and how many of them are already financially set for life. In college, you can get away with the things Meyer can because you can just find another player who will be happy to wear the uniform and hope you get him an NFL contract.

I played for high school coaches who said and did far more demeaning things than what was reported in that article. This doesn't excuse Meyer's behavior. But I don't think it's that unusual within sports culture.

Yeah that article comes across as a huge stretch on trying to make Meyer look bad.

He just isnt a good pro coach.

I did as well. I had a coach slap the shit out of me in the middle of a championship game that I was partially responsible for helping us win. That was a different era, though, and I wasn't a highly paid athlete.

Yup. That's the difference. He held your chance to play for the Green Bay Packers over you so he could get away with it.

I am surprised to hear that Simeon had such an intense badminton coach.

Last night I heard two different shows on AM1000 where a host or hosts were citing Meyer's "And do you know what would happen if I cut you guys? You couldn’t get a job paying more than $15 an hour." as an example of the demeaning and abusive way he treated players. That seems pretty tame.

Bleck and Abdalla were aghast that he would say such a thing. Later, when Courtney Cronin was on with Freddie Coleman, she was upset that he would say something so awful to players AND she was upset because he was demeaning people who make $15/hr.

That guy was crazy/legend. I remember my old high school played Simeon in the city playoffs at Gately. I went to check the game out. My coach/P.E. teacher Carl Bonner (also a legend but on his last legs as a coach) was the opposing coach.
Simeon rolled us like 60-0 that day at Gately. I just remember Coach Scott pointing across the field at Bonner the entire time yelling at him.
After the game I found out why. Bonner (R.I.P) was notorious (particularly later on in his career) for using ineligible players. About 5-6 of our guys were 5-6 six year guys. Scott knee it but wouldn't call a tech about it because he knew they were going to win anyway and Bonner was a legendary coach.

We'd go to the game and look in the program and a number of our guys would be in the book under Bogus names and grade levels and just start laughing about it.

He was starting to slow down by the time I arrived. Coach Chick and Coach Evans were pretty much running the program. He was essentially a figurehead, but when he spoke, you listened. He died a few years after I left.

Simeon had a legendary coach at the 3 major sports for decades. It was great for recruiting.

He's one of the best men you will ever meet. He never cursed, but you moved whenever he told you to. He used to coach defense back then.

Kenwood has become Bronzeville Simeon. I imagine the feds will show up at some point because of all of the bags of cash used to poach Simeon coaches.
