Delusional decision by the Rockies.

He’ll have the typical overinflated Rockie player numbers there which will make the contract seem like good money . Glad it’s not the Cubs paying that for 7 years .

I get the impression that since the Rockies' owner was the head of the owners' negotiating subcommittee, he felt he had to give some white guy a big contract to prove he really isn't in the same pile as the Reds, Pirates, Marlins, and Orioles.

Kris should have taken the 200 million offer a few years ago.

As I said in the other thread....look at Machado, Arenado, and a few others. I'm surprised he didn't get more money. A soft player finishing his career in a soft market....perfect fit. The Rockies regretted the Arenado contact...moved him....only to sign another contract they'll regret.

The White Sox couldn't find a way to get this guy on the roster for a short term deal?

The Cubs need to use their remaining cap space and buy a great prospect for taking on some of a lousy contract. Hosmer would be perfect, ask for Abrams to go along with him.

And the Padres have to do something with him now that they got Voit

A lot of teams should be kicking themselves for not getting this guy. Only a 3 year deal? Crazy!

How odd. But he is a Boras client so are we sure this is for real? Boras would stab his own mother in the jugular for an extra nickel. I hope for the Twins sake there's an actual signature and not just an agreement.

Pretty good contract for a career 9.0 WAR player. After this contract, Schwarber will have made about $100m.

Sirius MLB radio seems recently is going full out on the culture, community, leadership, quality of person bs during free agent signings discussion. They really laid it on heavy with the Freddie Freeman news. Switched over to NFL radio and they also seemed to ramp it up. One day there'll be a stat in slash lines on quality of person. Spring training has started in MLB. They can cool it with the time wasting filler talk. Les would be proud everybody is a "great guy".

Well Freeman would have been like Billy Williams leaving after the 1971 season in terms of effect. It's kind of understandable there. Plus this week they have the B Teams in the studio because they are doing their Spring Training tours.

In general though it is mostly some of the more recently retired ex-player hosts. Chris Gimenez is particularly awful, everything is a superlative with him. Xavier Scruggs isn't quite as bad.

Among the older players, Eduardo Perez loves everybody but he's somewhat measured about it. Brad Lidge, Ryan Spilborgs (sp?) and CJ Nitkowski are generally fine in the 2-5CT slot now that they got rid of Casey Stern.

The few old timers who are actually broadcasters like Jim Memolo, Jeff Joyce, or Dan Graca are not nearly as bad as the players. Memolo in particular just wants to figure out what bets he is going to make that day, but he's far better in this role at this point in his life than either his WSCR or WGN stints.

Justin Upton released by the Angels eating 28 million. Spiegel (calling the game) was in shock of the Angels top '22 spring training hitter being cut. Uptions ops last 3 years, 705. 711, 724 (62 million). His brother BJ was released his last 2 years team eating 17 million.

Listened to Brewers manager Craig Counsell on MLB radio. He's really a knucklehead. 15 minutes about leadership, culture, and a new one "tone". Went on about the leadership Andrew McCutchen (post season 239.340..261 .600 1 rbi) gave to the team in a speech.
He actually said the best part of playing is the camaraderie with teammates. Better than excelling on the field, winning a world series?

Saturday Spiegel & Alise went heavy on JHK leadership right between an error & (of course) strikeout by him.

Spiegel saying crazy Joe likes contact hitters and moving runners. Isn't CJ the opposite liking the long ball and quoted numerous times of not liking "station to station baseball". Spiegel will be a blast calling a few games. Bruce Levine actually did a few innings last year and that was even better yet.

This is getting ridiculous... what the Astros did was wrong, but there is nothing wrong with traditional sign stealing....they are destroying the game

agreed. if the catcher and pitcher are that lazy about it and you can pick up on tipped pitches or a sequence, thats good on ya. And what? are these fancy transmissions free of compromise? next we'll have teams with interceptors and beacons and fucking Geiger counters. Why not? Stupid.

The game has a sickness. The cornfield game turned me off. With all these problems, MLB ships juiced balls to Iowa for the premier game of the regular season. So not only is there existential problems with the game itself, add to the list, corruption.
