The ONLY thing Nirvana did was be the band chosen by MTV to replace the aging hair metal bands in their hard rock division. They didn't inspire shit. The "grunge" bands were already around before they could be ""inspired"" by them and the pop punk bands that soon followed were all inspired by bands around long before Nirvana. Its ridiculous how much love they get when pretty much every single other band from their little "grunge" circle was better than them. I don't like Pearl Jam or Soundgarden that much but they are both far superior and the band I do like, AIC, can absolutely wipe the floor with them musically.

Sounds more like a Nirvana fan boy is overrating their music. If I got dumped at that young of an age i most certainly would have been dumped to Far Behind which is from the same city/area and IMO better than any of the bland shit Nirvana putout.

Dave Grohl is 0-2 when it comes to saving junkie band mates. Not very Hall of Fame worthy!

I had this conversation with my wife last night and she became very annoyed. I wasn't 100% serious but the position I expressed was that Hawkins did tons of drugs his entire life and the only time he died was after Dave Grohl tossed the vaccines into the cocktail. I guess that's the price to pay if you want to play drums in the Flu Fighters.

If you watched that terrible Woodstock '99 documentary that Bill Simmons produced, you probably, like me, lost your mind at all these aging gen-Xers talking wistfully about how Kurt Cobain was the greatest force for social goodness that the world had ever known and that it was because he died that rock music was taken over by aggressive white men. Bitch, who do you think liked Nirvana?

Green Day wound up being more constructively influential than Nirvana, I feel, though all those mid-2000s emo bands sucked too.

I apologize for Dave for his lack of demons. it's just not cool in the music world.

Dave is not an awful musician. His band is not awful. They are not very good either. They are very bland. They are the American version of Nickelback. They have crappy songs that appeal to the lowest common denominator and get played on the radio. Grohl pisses everyone off because of his non stop ass kissing of everything and everyone possible to further himself and his band. He shows up for every single award show to represent "rock music" and is constantly using every avenue possible promote himself. It has worked apparently. I really don't think anyone would care about them if not for his over the top self pimping. They would just be Nickelback south.

We sure as hell talk a lot about them on this message board, which is odd. At least half of the posters are likely too old to be in the Foo Fighters' target demographic and the vast majority of those who are in the demographic are basically apathetic to them.

Urlacher's Missing Neck had complete read my mind and stated everything about Foo Fighters perfectly. As I said before....it's important that they are great performers. They can go out and visually make the most mediocre song just appear to be awesome.

I don't hate the Foo Fighters but the image of them is way better than their actual songs.
