Padres get Manaea from the A's.

All I had heard was he was a easy whitesox trade that was on the cusp of happening. For Andrew Vaugnh. What happened

Would have gladly dealt Vaughn for Manaea. Padres didn't give up a big haul for Manaea.

The Sox have known decades of general managerial ineptitude

all off season the entire world knew they needed another back end of the rotation starter (and could have used a TOR). Not Rick Hahn, the general manager who oversaw a decade of losses and has rewarded the fandom with a couple of years of above average baseball.

They got the back end starter already. Hahn is looking for something more.

I think I'd have him as the #4 at this point with the possibility of rising.

How could the GM have been so deficient as to leave the SP so thin, especially with the way this lockout adjusted season is going to be played?

Not sure how you didn't pull off that trade with the A's. We have too many 1B/DHs to not make a trade.

Uncle Jerry wouldn't give him the money to sign Ray or Stroman

I honestly can not wait until the man dies. This is worse than Wirtz. At least with Dollar Bill, you were not teased with a great team.

he won't die until he lets all this kind of home grown talent walk when it is time to pay them, even though he promised the Machado money would be spent.

It's mind boggling that they spent so much on utility players and relievers, when SP was a clear hole...

Theyll bumslay their way to a division title and be exposed (again) when they have to play good teams in the playoffs.

The Cueto signing was great. He had as good of numbers as Manaea, and Cueto costs nothing. Vaughn is a very valuable piece, and not worth it for a depth guy.

I have to laugh at the notion that starting pitching is some huge hole on the team. They are as good as any team in the American League.

Maybe, maybe not. We will see. I could do without garbageman Keuchel. I believe he's in there because he's got a fat guaranteed monthly check. I'm fine with everybody else. I'm fine with the lineup, and as with everybody else in MLB, the BP is a crapshoot. It's silly to predict how a sweatshop will perform.

Hand up, I forgot Keuchel existed.

I'd settle for him to be a competent back of the rotation guy, and not a dumpster fire.

He was great in 2020. I don't expect that, but an era around 4 and 180 innings would be very good for this team. I expect them to be one of the best offenses in baseball.

That’s a slightly better version than what I want from Cueto.

Not sure I can handle two guys that mediocre.

They have a ton of arms:

Giolito, Cease, Kopech, Kuechel, Cueto, Lopez, Velasquez and Lynn in a month. Should be good enough to get through the regular season. Playoffs will be about health, luck and momentum. Hope the guys are healthy, strong and throwing well then. The Braves had a few years in the playoffs before breaking through.

We have a surplus of #5 starters... Great!

Maybe 2 guys who would be considered a 5. Neither of whom are projected to start even with Lynn out. And extra arms help during the long season.

Is there a guy on that staff you’d feel good about running out there in a must win?
