Course has been closed :(
That is just unbelievably bad luck for Tbone. Twice in a row now.

They blew the horn around 11. We got there by 6:45 and were in the merch store by shortly after 7. Done shopping and shipped it all back home before 9. Peeked at the par 3 and then walked the back to 16. We saw one group skip balls and they blew the horn. Bittersweet. Thought we had at least another hour or more. They call it to give people plenty of time to get out. The skies opened and it came down hard. We knew they wouldn’t open it again so drove back to hotel in Athens. Now hoping weather will be good enough to fly out tomorrow. Glad the whole thing wasn’t a complete washout but I honestly don’t need to make a special trip to come down again. Takes a lot of effort and resources. I’ve been 3x now and it’s been great.

Augusta announced later yesterday that they would be reoffering tickets to patrons from Tuesday for the tournament next year. Looks like my sister in law will be getting the chance at 4 more.

Going with Hovland as my pick of the top tier favorites. He’s ready to win a major. Sticking with Kisner as my dark horse. He’s playing well lately. Should be an interesting tournament with some wind expected as well as some cool mornings a few days

Augusta family next to Masters golf course keeps turning down millions for their 1,900-square-foot house
Cork Gaines

Over the past two decades, Augusta National Golf Club in Georgia has bought up much of the land that borders its private grounds.

According to The Wall Street Journal, Augusta National spent over $200 million purchasing over 100 properties covering 270 acres since 1999. Those additions have nearly doubled the size of the course and made many property owners instant millionaires.

Off the northwest corner of the club sits a free parking lot, Gate 6-A, a stretch of empty land that was once a fully lived-in neighborhood. The club spent $40 million to buy and bulldoze the homes, offering the residents prices too enticing to turn down.

One family, however, refuses to sell — even as the offer increases.

For a story on NJ.com, Steve Politi tracked down the Thacker family of 1112 Stanley Dr., a property adjacent to Gate 6-A and the only one that Augusta National's money can't buy.

Despite regular million-dollar offers from club officials, Herman and Elizabeth Thacker don't want to leave their home.

"We really don't want to go," Elizabeth Thacker told NJ.com.

"Money ain't everything," her husband, Herman, added.

The house is about 1,900 square feet, has three bedrooms, and sits on about two-thirds of an acre. It has an estimated value of $330,000, according to the real-estate database Zillow.

The couple built the house in 1959 and watched as their neighborhood, once green with plenty of space for backyards and swing sets, vanished. Once a year, when the Masters rolls around, the area fills up with cars.

They don't mind the crowd, Politi reported. Sometimes, a fan will stop by and greet the couple on their porch, complimenting their landscaping or asking for gardening tips.

The location has its perks. One of their grandchildren became fond of golf and is now a professional. Scott Brown, 35, is a PGA Tour member, but he has yet to qualify for the Masters.

The couple knows that the house won't be there forever. Even Herman's brother sold his home, said to be one of the nicest in the town, and two other properties for $3.6 million. The Thackers owned another property right across the street, but they sold it to the golf club for $1.2 million.

But 1112 Stanley Dr., the home in which they raised their two children, five grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren, won't be bulldozed anytime soon.

That hasn't stopped an official from the club from popping by the house every so often.

"He'll come by here every so often, and he'll say: 'Just want to let you know we're still interested in your property,'" Herman said. "And we'll tell him the same thing again."

Emmett Knowlton contributed to this report.

I don't have ESPN+, but the coverage on Master.com is pretty good. I have to take my wife to her oncology appt this morning, but will watch the tournament online until ESPN covers it at 2pm. I like Scheffler to continue his good play and I'd like to see an amateur play well.

I have an aunt that had a house directly across the street from the gate that was by the #5. They made a small fortune every year during masters week parking cars in their yard and renting out their house. A few times my dad, brother, and I went down and helped park cars and would also go into the tournament. '92 was the last time I went, and I'm 100% sure I wouldn't even recognize the place now.

Looking at the aerial photo in the article, I think her house was right about where #5 tee is now, but not positive. Need to play around with google earth 'historical' settings.

The live coverage on the Masters website really gives a sense of how hilly the course is. Never really picked up on that in the normal, prime time, broadcast.

Tiger has hit some bad tee shots. Scrambled well so far. The 2 bogeys definitely looked like rust, especially on #8. 50 yards from the fairway in 2, and makes bogey 6.

He's missed alot of greens too. To be -1 with all that is pretty amazing. He's probably gonna take a bogey here on this long par 4 18.

I think like many said the test is do it again tomorrow. I can’t recall if I heard he requested a later tee time tomorrow or hoped for one.

Some announcer said he had a late tee time tomorrow.

Amazing performance by Tiger today.

Saving the first hole with par gave him confidence for the rest of the round.

Great leaderboard after round 1. Usually there is a "who?" after the first round. Shaping up to be a battle of the titans.

And Tiger typically does not do well on Masters Thursdays. Only 11 Thursdays of 24 has he shot under par.

It's extremely hilly, tv does not do it justice but maybe they will have some drones this year that will show a bit more.

I seem to remember them being very slow to show any "extra" coverage. For a long time, the front nine was practically a myth to viewers. But once they jumped into the website/app/streaming, it's been really good.

Great picks, dickhead. I guess Rory still has a shot.

Windy later and cool tomorrow. 70 will be a good score.
