First look at possible OL at minicamp

Quote:
The Bears have switched their tackle alignment from last season, with Teven Jenkins sliding to the right tackle position and Larry Borom moving to left tackle. It was the first offensive line formation seen Tuesday during the team’s voluntary minicamp at Halas Hall.

The Bears’ reshaped offensive line includes a new center in veteran Lucas Patrick and an incumbent starter at left guard in Cody Whitehair. The team has a vacancy at right guard, which is presently being filled by Sam Mustipher and Dakota Dozier. However, competition could be added to that position through free agency or the draft.

Larry Borom will get Fields killed if he’s the starting LT during the season.

.
I think that's the plan. Start over at QB by getting the current unknown commodity killed. Then invest a 6th round pick into QB next year while also signing a QB from the TB practice squad to start. The Poles methodology. Don't ask questions. Just assume he knows what he's doing because he's a new hire and he's a minority.

He might get Fields killed if he's starting at guard, too.

At least he's consistent!

Poles must have really hated Alex Barrs to cut him as a league minimum player with starting experience when he had no one to even cover the spot in a minicamp

Almost the entire roster will be a tryout squad next year. Poles is only signing guys to one- or two-year deals, and the holdovers from the Pace era, including Fields, will be launched if they don't perform in 2022. There will be a record number of rookie free agents on the team next season, and we will continue to see a bunch of guys brought in for tryouts from training camp to game 17. I expect Quinn to be traded by the deadline, and it's possible Jackson may be gone sooner, possibly on June 2. He may have been told that the team is trying to trade him, which would explain why he was a no-show for the first day of minicamp. There's no question that Quinn is being shopped. I'm also not convinced that Poles will re-sign Roquan, but I guess we'll have to wait and see on that one. Foles' case is a bit curious since the team paid him a $3 million roster bonus shortly after the beginning of the new league year. I would have thought Poles would have released Foles before the bonus became guaranteed, but I suppose Poles thinks he can trade Foles. Since it's unlikely that Foles will garner more than a 6th- or 7th-round pick in trade, I think the decision to retain rather than release Foles suggests that Poles has a low opinion of Fields. In effect, Poles chose the possibility of getting a late-round pick for Foles over using that $3 million to help sign a competent wide receiver or offensive lineman to help Fields. To me, that decision suggests that Poles doesn't view Fields as much of a priority.

They will be running a zone blocking scheme under Getsy.

Bars isn't athletic enough to work in that scheme.

The Bears have very little to offer in trade compared to most other teams that would presumably want him.

Deebo had one good year and now wants to be traded and paid.

This is what one article projected the Bears might have to give up. Seems way too high.

Chicago Bears send: No. 39, No. 71 and 2023 first-rounder

Wide receiver David Moore and cornerback Greg Stroman both tried out for the Bears during this week’s minicamp and both players will be sticking around for a while.

The Bears announced on Thursday that they have signed Moore and Stroman. Both players agreed to one-year deals.

Poles was turned off by internal reports that strongly suggested Samuel is a highly regarded player in his prime.

The one thing you want to do while trying to get your team in a better financial position while having limited resources is trading what resources you have for a player who is going to demand a huge extension.

I seem to recall that I thought moore was a good player for a few week stretch at some point in his career. He can probably stick as a sixth WR on the roster if he plays st well

I didn't necessarily say we should acquire him, wise guy.

I don't believe in a complete tear down in football. That doesn't mean I don't believe in salary cap management. You have a shot any given year due to injuries and the way the ball rolls. No sense in sabotaging the season when you're always a play away from winning a mediocre division. Rebuilding is a basketball and baseball thing. In football you just need to be at the right place at the right time.

Giants trying to unload last year's #1 pick Toney, a wr. Maybe Poles could get him for a 3rd or 4th rounder.

He was 22 coming off a weird year for the whole world. I'd give him the benefit of the doubt.

I never thought I'd live to see the day when a Pringle got arrested for doing a donut.

Food for thought.

Definitely seeing the loving/doting father defense sprinkled all over his lawyer's strategy

Small miracle he didn't cream anyone in the process

Police report said Pringles' eyes glazed over during questioning

Pringle reportedly was "jelly" over teammate Justin Fields' donut skills and wanted to engage in competition

Who knows. Someone is going to give him a chance.

Toney, when he played, was startlingly good. He is a mental case, chronically hurt, lazy, and had multiple issues on the field losing his cool and acting like a moron. Then he decided to no-show all the voluntary workouts this year with a new coach and playbook in a year where you would figure he has a lot to prove. It only took one year for him to declare war on the NY media and prove his skin is far too thin for that market. I would be completely in favor of the Giants trading this guy, even though I think there is a potential star in there somewhere. Daboll and Schoen have no connection to this asshole, and if he doesn't want to be there already get what you can from him and move on. The guy is trouble.
