And it doesn't help that Danks is coming off his worst start of the season, allowing seven runs and seven hits in four innings as Chicago lost 11-8 to Cleveland on Friday night. The 23-year-old left-hander went 1-0 with a 0.98 ERA in his previous three starts.

Twins catcher Joe Mauer and first baseman Justin Morneau have been particularly successful against Danks, going 8-for-12 (.667) and 7-for-16 (.438), respectively.

He is 1-2 with a 7.45 ERA in four starts versus the Twins at Chicago, and 2-3 with a 6.88 ERA in seven starts overall.

per espn.

Solid stats RV. I had thought that with his last start being a short one, his arm might not be too fatigued. Perhaps this game tonight might not be such a cake-walk after all.

But more importantly, the first step on the road to glory starts tomorrow night!!!

I think the sox win it in a 10-8 final. But danks might not be as dominate as some thing, so it could be a nail biting win for my good friends on the south side

AWESOME RESPONSE!!! Go Twins! I'd like to see them put up 5 or 6 runs early and just take the air right out of the park.

As Cubs fan I could care less what the Sox do tonight (Though I do think they will win) it has no bearing on what the CUbs do against the Dodgers. Game One is critical because I have a feeling Z sucks in game two.

I don't either. I was just being a wise ass.

I hope they win. I think 2 Chicago baseball playoff series at the same time would be very cool.

A 5:30 start time this time of the year should have no impact on the fielders. The sun is totally gone by 6:15. Earlier in the year this would be a bad time to start, but now it should have no impact.

Me neither, I had a black shirt on today, but once I heard they wanted all the meatballs to dress up like they are at a 8th grade pep rally, I went with a different one. I dont care if they lose, went over to the sox forum and said good luck and a few of the captain meatballs over there shot that down, so now I sorta hope for a 9-1 loss for the southsiders. Either way, there season will be over by next weekend when either them or the twins get swept by the rays.

Cub fan hope has proven to have disasterous results on the object on which it is bestowed.

If thats the case, I'm going to go light a candle for the southside team and put 100 bucks down on them....by the way, pappy is taking them tonight also, so if that isnt the seal of doom, I dont know what is.

Ironic? Yes. One of the best instences of karma? Yes. Funny? Hilarious....

He used "ironic" correctly. I'm impressed.

So when do PANIC and RELAX weigh in???? Cubs in 4 if not a sweep. My pre-series pick for NLDS series MVP- Derek Lee. I know....He's Mr Double Play and has not been a great 2nd half player. But every time he has gotten a couple days off, he seems to come back strong and hit with power, so he's my pick.

MLB doesn't award ALDS/NLDS trophies. Only for the ALCS/NLCS and the World Series.

Doesn't mean you can't pick your MVP, Steve. Just thought I let you know that. MLB doesn't give a trophy for this round.

Really?? The team that the Cubs went 2-2 against just last week? The team that features Johan Santana, Pedro Martinez, Jose Reyes, David Wright, a couple Carlos's that will kill your ass in post season play Beltran and Delgado?

I'm glad we got the Dodge'

Everyone talking about Manny Ramirez. The Cubs will not let him beat them. The guy that worries me is Andre Ethier. Watch this guy, I gotta feeling he will be the guy up in key spots with men on base.

All Cubs fans, now hear this! This is a warning for all of you who have been singing "Go Cubs Go" all season long, let me be the one to warn you that a new season begins tonight, and it matters NOT what your record was during the regular season! This has not worked out to the Cubs advantage! This is a bad match up, and you can feel it in the air as Game 1 approaches! You can almost taste in the air, taste the demise of the Chicago Cubs in the first series!

The Dodgers bring a lot to the table! Solid starting pitching! Good bullpen! Good hitting! A fantastic manager who has been through playoff wars over and over again, and knows how to handle the pressure cooker of playoff baseball! The Cubs have a beat up and unpredictable starting rotation! The Cubs have a lousy bullpen! The Cubs pound mediocre pitching, but get stymied by quality pitching! The Cubs have Lou Piniella at the helm, and we all know how he did in Seattle when the heat was turned on in the playoffs after romping through the regular season!

I have been saying it all summer! The day of reckoning is now at hand! No more fun counting Magic Numbers! No more comfortable division leads on the Milwaukee Brewers! No more games against Pittsburgh! Or Cincinnati! Or Houston! There are no more weak little sisters to pound on, now it is time to put up or shut up, and this team looks like it is past its peak! Now the Cubs are no better than any other post-season team!

This smells like trouble, the kind of trouble that future generations will look back on and shudder over - the kind of trouble that will cause little children and old men to openly weep! The expectations of this team are about to be shattered like delicate panes of glass, World Series talk will be snuffed out like a spent cigarette in a parking lot! "Go Cubs Go" can not save you now!

Woe unto you Cubs fans! The hour of destruction is at hand!

PANIC!! PANIC!! PANIC!!

AAAAARRRRRRGGGGGGHHHHHH! ITS HAPPENING AGAIN!!!!

And if that isn't enough of a wakeup call, chew on this:

FELIX PIE AND RONNY CEDENO ARE ON THE PLAYOFF ROSTER! AND BOBBY HOWRY!

I thought Nort was crazy when he said he thought Pie would make the roster...Cedeno can't throw, so that rules out him as a defensive replacement at 3rd or short...so you now have 3 2Bmen on the roster-Fontenot, Cedeno and DeRosa...good move, Cubbies...

Dodgers lineup:

1 SS Furcal
2 C Martin
3 LF Ramirez
4 RF Ethier
5 1B Loney
6 CF Kemp
7 2B DeWitt
8 3B Blake
9 SP Lowe

Cubs:

1 LF Alfonso Soriano
2 RF Kosuke Fukudome
3 1B Derrek Lee
4 3B Aramis Ramirez
5 C Geovany Soto
6 CF Jim Edmonds
7 2B Mark DeRosa
8 SS Ryan Theriot
9 SP Ryan Dempster

Fukudome batting 2nd a surprise, but maybe he will snap out of it, that would be huge.

I like Lou taking a shot with Fukodome in the 2 hole, show some confidence in him and get him out of that slump. That would be huge.
