If I were a Dodgers fan, I would have no problem with it. How many starters have gone much more than 80 pitches in their 1st start and they really need him to help get thru this season, they don't have a lot of starters.

Why pull the guy who missed the playoffs last year with injuries? I guess the argument is he's going to get hurt no matter what, might as well send him out anyway.

 Kershaw said himself all he pitch to this point was a 75 pitch simulated game. He was good with his skipper.

took the twins and didn't expect that from kershaw. bad am and afternoon....circled the brewers and they did come through for 3 units at a steep -85.. lost 1 and 1/2 units today, up half a unit for the week. we'll see where that takes me.

As bad as that was, it still wasn't as bad as the Red Headed Rectum's call of Suzuki's Home Run the other day

Expected. ZZ is absolutely useless as a radio voice in any capacity.

only the umpires can slow them down. not sure if you saw what happened with umpire jeff nelson?

reminds me of of earl weaver telling first base umpire bill haller - "you're here just to fuck us"

AL West is an offensive dynamo. Rangers may be the best 95 loss team in history.

There seems to be an orchestrated effort to push Josh Harrison the leader. Levine went there. Now Gonzalez. The Sox youngest players are 24-25. They're grown men. Probably married with a family. Is Harrison going to tie their shoes for them?

its a writing trope. basically meaningless. just gives the sports section another 500-800 word article from lobbed soft questions to a veteran

noticed that there have been a lot of unders in baseball and yesterday bernstein underscored that by talking about the low amount of runs and home runs this early season. lightest scoring beginning of a season since 1993?

when the aaa orioles shutout the yankees, look out.

More walks, more Ks. I guess a walk isn't as good as a hit.

last week, the padres were the moral compass of baseball - expressing anger that the giants stole a base and tried to bunt for a hit - when the giants were up 9 runs.

hard to hold that compass and shepherd mlb towards truth, justice and the american way - when you have a luke voit with the total asshole move trying to smash reds' catcher tyler stephenson's head in. play at the plate and voit's right forearm and hand gave stephenson an instant concussion - but stephenson held on to the ball and voit was out. this guy voit - always posing and does the punk bat-flip when he knows he has homered. now, this stunt? voit better remember that the reds' hunter greene throws a 102-103 mph fastball.

It seems like teams selectively choose whether to like or dislike unwritten rules depending on if it will benefit them.

Terrible analysis of the play.

Catcher shouldn’t have tried to headbutt the guy’s forearm.

Didn't look to me like he was trying to hit his head as much as awkwardly catch it.

Dummy put his head directly in Voit’s path. He could use some of those magical Javy Baez tagging skills.

As much as MANY oldheads whine about takeout slides at 2nd and home plate collisions, baseball isn't a contact sport. Baseball is now about bat flips, homerun pimp jobs, lining into the shift, and pitchers staring down guys with 200 Ks after striking them out.

you're right, i forgot to mention voit trying to give stephenson whiplash, after giving him a concussion. pushing his head away was similar to richie aprile pushing janice away during disappointing sex. i guess stephenson told voit that, "yeah baby, you're the boss", during voit's AB.

He didn't TRY to do anything. The catcher was way up the line in a direct line to home plate. There was no malice. It appeared he tried to grab him, not hit him. So it didn't work out. Oh well. Boo hoo
