Jorge Orta, not Ivan DeJesus...

That was an awful column. It's fine not to like the state of sports talk radio, but if you're going to take the time to write about it, you probably should have something to offer other than insults and some vague complaints. The only take away you get from reading that column is "gee, this guy doesn't like sports talk radio."

Agree and if you're going to use that term you have to include the King of the GHS's Danny Parkins.

yes..you're correct. believe he did it for both players - since there was zero backlash and giggles with the first.

i grew up thinking that quote was attributed to rey sanchez. maybe he used it a bunch?

my other favorite harry-ism was when andre dawson first came over and a fly ball was hit to him he called it "and there's a fly ball to andrew jackson in right"

O'Donnell's placement of Carmen & Jurko was curious next to 2 guys who''ve pretty much thrown in the towel on integrity (Bernstein & Spiegel). I can tolerate C & J live to listen to a breaking story. They've never polluted the airwaves with sjw views to viewers only seeking apolitical sports talk. I've heard Jurko take calls from soccer moms correcting him on a subject and happily taking the correction. I've heard them be quite honest about their partner the White Sox.

Also here's a writer in the business boldly saying overall ratings do matter. The Score always claiming targeted ratings were high with goals met, but ironically host salaries going down during the proclaimed boom.

Yes this isn't the first time O'Donnell has done this but it never gets old or trite. Just gets better and better.

Larry & Bernstein were together doing "Who's your guy?" Callers name a player they like in the draft. The attempted humor layed a giant egg. 2 unfunny guys trying to be funny together totally failed.

Is that the bit where some caller names a guy and then Bernstein just reads a scouting report?

It is and it used to be funny when Goff dropped sound bites and Terry made noises.

The scouting report of Wake Forest OT Zach Tom concluded in praise of his on and off the field intelligence and demeanor.

LH: I wonder what race HE is, huh? Whatcha think Dan?

DB: does it start with wh.......wh......wh.......

LH: Haha yeah you see what im saying! Haha.

Zach Tom is black. While almost certainly silently googling Zach Tom, one of them follows up with a "lol wouldnt it be funny if he wasn't white? haha that would be be so funny."

Yep, and I have never understood the appeal of the segment.

Your opinion on the state of sports radio is as relevant and unbiased as O’Donnell’s…except he has less readers. The irony of a guy that writes part-time for a suburban paper in a dying forum talking about irrelevancy is amusing though. Bitter to the end.

They've always mocked draft talk because of their deficiencies, not that of the topic.

Draft talk is fun but neither of these guys spent any time watching college football so they are walking into the test without having studied.

That is a great point. Thinking he is clever with the draft guide thing is dumb and lazy.

THE DISASTROUS "BOOK" was simply more proof of what happens when air-brained programmers remain on payroll to oversee a flatulent blend of talent-free Babbitts and cringingly nerd-ish Hey-Mom-I'm-on-the-radio types.

The programming on both is so bad that it's a shame the FCC doesn't have a "Save Our Signals" response team that can sweep through the two hallways and upgrade things with "The Cheery Retro Sounds of Gilbert O'Sullivan" or "All Al Roker, All the Time."

But, when you've got ground-hole sniffers like Carmen DeFalco, John Jurkovic, Dan Bernstein, Matt Spiegel and the inimitable David "Chatty" Kaplan on the air, what else can be expected?

The Score programming is honestly better than this attempt at... humor?

perfect Larry is delusional moment today in transition.

The boys are talking about about if they could manage the Sox. One of them made the statement that it was a really hard job and none of them could really do a good job with that. Larry sort of sighed and said "Oh I could to it" Parkins challenged him and asked why he thought that. Larry said I was a team captain on every team I ever played on.

I heard that. High school team captain (even if true) does not make him a leader of men. He actually sounded pissed off that Matt would question why he could manage a MLB team

Tom Thayer really stole the show when he and Grote transitioned with Larry & Bernstein educating the 3 about the NFL. Hearing Thayer talk football really reinforces how little the hosts know about football.

There is no designation more worthless in sports than team captain for baseball. Unlike every other sport, there are no duties, even cermonial.

The players know who the leader is.

Baseball team captain in high school only reflects who the coaches think is a leader but is unlikely based in reality. I remember the guy our coach named. Even he knew no one would follow him. He would try to be rah-rah before games and people would laugh.

I'm sure Sir was different

The Holmes Score Stories segment at 5 was brutal as well. No stories, just a half hour of him complimenting himself on his work,
and defending his existence at the Score all these years. Worst of these segments I've heard. If not for the Pandemic, he would
have left for NBCSports. Also, almost everything he did was "Money!", yet he's been bounced all over
