I want the other 25 year old, the kick and punt returner from Utah on the pack. That guy is a stud.

He absolutely cannot pass block.

Feet are too slow.

Run blocking was good in college tho.

Faalele? Dude's a mountain. Gotta be 4 spins.

Should've gone Bernhard Raimann with the 71st pick.

Something has to be up with Raimann. He has falled while lineman after lineman have been drafted.

Most guides have him listed as a 6th rounder lol.. he is legit fast tho and does serve as a special teams pick if he can’t contribute right away on offense..

Man, woulda like Bell there tho. Oh well..

Velus Jones had modest production as a WR at USC/Tennessee, peaking in 2021 with 62 catches for 807 yards and 7 TDs. Most draft analysts project his biggest impact on special teams, but I'd imagine the Bears want to give Justin Fields another weapon and use him on offense.

maybe they think Raimann's too light to hold up in the NFL. He has more of TE build than a chunky olineman. Raimann plays and looks strong as an ox. Clutches and uses his arms more than bodying up defenders I noticed watching his tape. So I dunno. Maybe they think he'll get too many holding calls in the NFL with that style of play.

Damn didn’t realize Harris was still on the board too.. he’d look good next to Roquan and probably would have been a day 1 starter too had they gone for him..

Ridder from Cincy off the board before Willis.

Raimann finally gets picked, 77th overall to the Colts. Colts always looking out for their oline.

Getting to the point where I wouldn’t be mad if the bears took a flier on Willis lol.. I mean he’s great value at this point.. dude had a borderline 1st round grade, and his physical talent is off the charts

Dean to the Eagles.. great value. I’ve always felt draft gurus need to pay the most attention to the film rather than the combine and measurements.. film doesn’t lie. Can the kid play or not? And this kid can play..

ESPN Radio was reporting tonight that Dean has a pec injury and is likely going to need surgery, and thus may miss most/all of 2022.

I thought Carolina would have taken him in the third, height be damned.

Cardinals and Patriots both with 2 more picks this round. Could see Zona taking Willis to put some pressure on Kyler. Belichick might take Willis late in the 3rd and then flip him later for a 2nd round pick in next year's draft. Titans on the clock now would make sense to take a down the road successor to Tannehill. Raiders the same.

Yeah either way its all about value now as we get to the end of the 3rd.. 4th and later is where you can take some swings on players and it isn’t often you get a chance to swing on a 1st round talent in those rounds, especially at QB

My gut tells me you’re right.. but, we need to actually see these guys on the field. See the coaching, play calling and so on.

This may be the shortest leash I’ve ever given tho for my mind to be made up. He has yet to do anything that I really feel good about.

1st two picks seem to be BPA day 1 starters in a secondary that needed talent. I like that.

Velus Jones at 71 can not be looked at as anything but a monumental fucking reach. This team needs help at WR...not a Tariq Cohen replacement. Horseshit pick. I would have rather had Jalen Tolbert there.

Titans send the Raiders #90 overall and the Titans 5th round pick (169th overall) to move up ahead of zona, dallas, buffalo and draft Willis. Either they were worried about Zona grabbing Willis with their extra 3rd round pick or someone else leapfrogging them for Willis. Tho anyone really could draft Willis at that point. QB's have too much value in the league to overlook Willis this late in the draft, even if you already have a reliable starter.

Dane Brugler's Scouting Report on Velus Jones:

Quote:
STRENGTHS: Strong, compact frame, and plays physical through contact ... releases around press and accelerates to top speed quickly ... has the fluidity in his lower body to shake corners mid-route ... was used often on catch-and-go routes (screens, sweeps, etc.) designed for YAC ... really competitive after the catch, and flashes burst off his plant foot to find yards for himself ... steady hands, and drops were uncommon on his 2021 tape ... accomplished kick returner with a pair of touchdown returns (124/2,973/2) ... led the SEC in kick-return yardage in 2020 and 2021, and ranks second in kick-return yards (1,947) in USC history ... added punt-return duties
as a senior, averaging 15.1 yards per return (18/272/0).

WEAKNESSES: Better speed as a ball carrier than route runner, slowing his stride slightly as he turns to locate ... inconsistent route tempo, and prematurely tips his path ... needs to better set up defenders based on his coverage reads ... has slight stiffness in his hips, which hinders his ability to sink at the top of routes ... can be baited into extra contact downfield ... fumbled twice in 2021, including a costly muffed punt that contributed to a loss ... spent six seasons in college and will turn 25 shortly after he is drafted ... struggled through a hamstring injury during fall practice and the first month of the 2021 schedule.

SUMMARY: A two-year starter at Tennessee, Jones was a slot receiver in head coach Josh Heupel’s up-tempo spread offense. After four seasons at USC (caught passes from Sam Darnold in 2017), he transferred to Knoxville, where he was the SEC Special Teams Player of the Year in 2021 and saw his role grow on offense as a senior (the only FBS player with at least 700 receiving yards, 500 kick-return yards, and 200 punt-return yards). Jones has terrific top-end speed, with the vision, balance and compete skills to create with the ball in his hands as a returner or catch-and-go threat (80.7 percent of his receptions in 2021 came within 10 yards of the line of scrimmage). While he flashes burst in his lower body, he doesn’t have the tempo or setup skills in his patterns to consistently create separation vs. sticky corners. Overall, Jones has a limited route tree and is still developing his rhythm as a receiver, but he has a smooth accelerator with solid ball skills. He offers value as a return man, special-teamer and back-end-of-the-roster receiver (similar to Pharoh Cooper).

GRADE: 5th-6th Round

Dane Brugler's Scouting Report on Jaquan Brisker:

Quote:
STRENGTHS: Lean, athletic frame with adequate length … plays with enough range to cover split-field … alert in coverage … does a nice job reading passing concepts to hunt crossers … rolls up his sleeves to speed downhill and get physical vs. the run … aggressively fills as a box player, showing the strong hands to work off blocks and fight to the ball carrier … also has the lateral quicks to avoid blockers … committed zero penalties over the last two seasons, which speaks to his timing and discipline … plays through minor injuries … his teammates call him the “unquestioned” leader of the team (former defensive coordinator Brent Pry: “He has always been one of our best workers, but his consistency off the field, the maturity … he’s holding guys accountable.”).

WEAKNESSES: Tight through his hips, which hinders his ability to turn, run, and recover vs. the run or coverage … his lack of an explosive gear limits his ability to make plays in deep zone … his eyes will stay locked in the backfield, leaving him susceptible to eye candy … average play strength and lighter than ideal … physical in run support, but slides off ball carriers when he doesn’t wrap and drive his feet … strong runners can keep their feet and withstand his arm tackles … minimal special teams reps over the past two seasons.

SUMMARY: A two-year starter at Penn State, Brisker was a strong safety in former defensive coordinator Brent Pry’s scheme, lining up mostly in the box while also seeing snaps in space (post, slot, etc.). After two seasons at the juco level, he developed into a multidimensional defender for the Nittany Lions and made a significant impact on and off the field. Brisker covers a lot of ground and is most comfortable when he can walk down and attack the line of scrimmage with his physical play demeanor. Though he competes with non-stop urgency vs. the run, he isn’t a consistent wrap-up tackler, which leads to misses. Overall, Brisker lacks ideal explosiveness and size on paper, but his innate toughness and timing fuel his playmaking skills. He projects as a starting strong safety in the NFL.

GRADE: 2nd Round (No. 42 overall)
