If he(Poles) was to dip his toe in the “Trade Fields” market he would be lucky to get a 2nd and that wouldn’t be a good look for him

It's a better look than what you allege: trying to sabotage Fields' chances. GMs with balls trade people they don't like and start their own guys. Pussy GMs do what you're saying.

I thought I read on twitter tonight that Fields and Poles sat down and watched film on wr prospects and the old man from TN was on Fields list of guys he would like to play with. Why are they treating this guy like he is tom fucking brady and has any say in what they do? He had a whole lot of opinions on Nagy that were voiced through his personal qb coach and now gets to give Poles a list of players he would like to play with? Maybe they are setting him up to take all the blame if he sucks again next year.

"I thought I read on Twitter"

When I read that I knew the rest of the post was going to be solid info.

Twitter is legit now but regardless it was something Kap was referencing.

After the draft a few things are readily apparent, most notably that George agreed with Poles, who must have told him there was almost nothing worth keeping on the roster, and is allowing Poles to slowly revamp the entire roster.

Poles looks to go for proven guys from major programs early and then take shots at "trait" guys later, rebuilding the entire offensive roster with lineman that fit the new scheme and guys that have shown ability as returners, can take short passes and break a tackle or two, Poles must realize the oline will not be rebuilt anytime soon, so they will have to rely on short passes because they will be terrible at both OT positions. Draft a bunch of college LT's and if they cannot play tackle in the NFL they can maybe play guard, if you get real lucky and one of your later picks actually can play tackle you count your blessings, if not maybe you get a backup guard or maybe a guy that can step up and take the starting job from an overpriced and underperforming starter at guard.

Quietly revamped the secondary, but just having guys that are smart enough not to blow coverages, and actually are interested enough to touch a guy down or attempt to make a tackle will be a huge improvement, not sure how long Eddie Jackson lasts, he will be sitting on the bench early unless he begins to look at least a little bit interested.

Still think almost all moves are made with an eye on filling out the roster, and maybe stumbling into an actual quality player or two while looking to add offensive playmakers next offseason. This year will be all about evaluating the roster, Fields especially, as next year likely provides yet another opportunity at a franchise reset.

Can't evaluate Fields if he has no legitimate targets or a line to protect him. Seems obvious

It was probably hard to properly evaluate Fields with all of the first and second round talents he played with at Ohio State after failing to beat out Jake Fromm at Georgia. Hopefully, with better coaching and an offense tailored to the quarterback and the talent on the roster, we will have a better idea of what we have in Fields going forward. IF Fields takes the time to fix the holes in his game, we'll celebrate during training camp.

Didn't Poles say that Fields had Velus Jones on a list of receivers he really liked?

Of course, we don't know if Jones was at the bottom or top of the list, but he was on it!

Yeah, but do you want a green Fields having a say? Sure, it tells your quarterback that you value his opinion, but Fields hasn't earned a seat at the table yet.

Who did the Packers leapfrog to get Watson? The Bears?

Agreed. I wouldn't trust Fields with anything until he proves he's the long-term answer at QB.

Have I ever mentioned how enjoyable it was to watch the Jags to run the Colts out of the playoffs in January?

Mr. Telephoner Robert, I propose this to be quite an improvement over the Ashland and North Carolina picks from your guy Pace.

A bit more complicated than that my friends, the current nature of the NFL almost forces teams to kiss the behinds of anyone that is a potential franchise QB, even the unproven ones in order keep them happy in the event that they prove to be franchise QB's. You want to be a very cozy place with these guys in the event the merit a second contract, asking them who they like is almost expected, and with the type of short passing offense they will be forced to run, especially with plays that will get Fields out of the pocket, you need guys that can catch quick passes and break a tackle or two, or have the speed to force the DB's to run with them, which will open up either a short quick option, turn the DB's back which will allow Fields to run for 5-10 yards when he breaks outside contain, or even get deep for an occasional deep shot.

Id be surprised if Ryan doesnt get atleast 35 tds 10 or less picks and 4k yards.. 11 wins ..

This version of Ryan is better than any quarterback the Saints have had in 5 years.

This is an interesting tweet. It averages 18 different draft 'experts' grades.

They have the Bears 29th out of 32 teams.

I do. Noodle-armed Brees and Winston aren't better than whatever Ryan is today. Unless the Colts lose some key guys, I'm willing to wager they'll be a playoff team.

Unless there are still seven playoff spots, I'll make that bet. Ryan has been a bum since he blew the most infamous 25 point lead in history. Which was glorious.
