Obviously he achieved his goal of getting under Anderson's skin. These two have a long history. They beefed when Donaldson was a Twin and the benches cleared in the last series when Donaldson put a hard tag on Anderson and tried to shove him off the bag.

When a guy compares himself to Jackie Robinson, I don't think it's RACIST! to bust his balls about it. In any case, I don't think either guy is very well liked around baseball. Donaldson is a widely known douche. That's why he's been on so many teams. A.J. Pierzynski mode. Anderson may be liked by his teammates but all his strutting and pimping surely isn't appreciated by opponents. Whether the fans consider it "fun" or not.

As a Sox fan I was embarrassed when I heard the reason for the bench brawl. The guy compared himself to one of the all time greats in the sports and civil rights movement. Razzing him by sarcastically calling him Jackie is 100% the correct thing to do if you are his opponent.

Its similar to when you are playing pick up ball and someone is out there in a pro jersey. let's say for sake of argument it's a Steph Curry jersey. Anytime that guy bricks or air balls a jumper you better believe I'm gonna say nice shot Steph. Doesn't matter if the guy wearing the jersey is white, black, or anything else.

That is 100% fair game trash talking and 0% racist.

He wasn't razzing him because he wasn't playing as well as Jackie Robinson. Come on.

Since no one else will say it. He was razzing him because Anderson isn't matching up to Robinson in terms of being a baseball player that improves things for his race and Anderson made a comment 3 years ago about saying he views himself that way and seemingly has never mentioned it again and probably wishes he hadn't.
