If the Broncos were sold for $5 billion, I would think that a storied franchise like the Bears would go for close to $10 billion at an auction.

And they're saying the new owner will have to spend another $2-3B on a new stadium. He's worth $70B though.

It's really disgusting how the McCaskeys could be such a terrible caretaker of the franchise and still likely to end up smelling like a rose.

No team was. That's why he crawled back to Michigan with his severed dick in his hands.

They don't own their own stadium...yet so it would probably be about 5 billion.

It's not the same as green and yellow toilet paper certificates that an orphan franchise produces.

I'm a fan of an honorable organization. An organization that was even kind enough to bail out your Packers when they were on the verge of folding.

I have no doubt some of these franchises will fetch 5+ billion, but I do doubt whether the new owner ever sees a profit. Of course, most of them buy as vanity projects.

Holmes had a guy on today talking about this subject. He said the Broncos were worth $4.5B so he estimated the Bears value at $5.5B.

Edit: I see now that the Broncos sold for $4.65B so I guess you could add $1B to that.

Not owning a stadium and currently having one of the worst setups now, I'd probably shave at least a half billion off of that.

Well the list is 2021 but it has the Bears at #7 and the Broncos at #10 https://www.forbes.com/nfl-valuations/list/#tab:overall

If the broncos sold for 24% over list then that puts the Bears a bit north of 5B.

All that means is that when Virgina dies this team is gonna get chopped up and sold off in teensy little pieces.

Elon buys the bears and puts the first ai quarterback on the field. Bears go 0-17 and Elon sues the NFL for misleading rules causing the team to lose.

The kids seem to have no interest in running a football team. Might as well sell at least part of it. Sell off a majority and stay on as the Halas face of the organization.

I've said it before but those kids are fools. People would give their left arm to have the opportunity they have been given and yet not one in going on four generations has cared enough to educate themselves in the operation of a football team for a great personal salary and a share of 5 billion.

See this all the time, the kids and grandkids rarely have the drive or intelligence the founders of a business had because they grew up in luxury and had no reason to hustle or educate themselves.

It would be hard for anyone to match the incompetence of Michael and George McKaskey, any new ownership likely will instantly find ways to increase revenue streams and would likely insist that all the McKaskey family members that hold positions within the organization find some other avenue of employment which would quickly yield results as more competent people are brought onboard.

I'd consider the McCaskeys a very different situation and somewhat of an anomaly. The team was supposed to go to Mugs...not Virginia, Ed, and their 11 children. Mugs dying young and unexpectedly kind of through the whole thing into a mess.

Regardless...the McCaskey children all had lives and careers outside of the Bears...they kind of had to. With so many of them, there was no clear heir. Michael proved to be a football and political moron when given the chance. George certainly isn't proving to be any more competent. All we have to go on is what's reported, but I believe it's been said over the years, the McCaskeys lived fairly modestly given the team ownership.

Ironically...had Mugs lived longer, I don't think his kids would have run things any better. His divorce was nasty and bitter with all kinds of drama. His kids probably hated him

Grammatically speaking, wouldn't it be correct to say how much IS the Bears worth? I know we always say "are" and thats what sounds correct but "The Bears" is a singular organization. Kinda like Frankie say relax. What say you?
