They'll win it, just enough to cock tease us before getting blown out in game 4 with Lowe back on the mound.

I would say it's a clean sweep, but a cocktease win would be prototypical.

They win the next 3. The Dodgers will probably start someone other than Lowe on Sunday, as they will have a 2-1 lead at that point and want to have Lowe start game 1 of the NLCS, if possible. Then the Cubs will have Dempster against Lowe in the deciding game 5, where Dempster will pitch more like the consistant, dominant pitcher he was most of the season and win it.

No bigger, more knowledgeable Cub fan then myself. But I am not pissed off about this. Please everyone, keep it in perspective. It is sports, purely entertainment. Of course it would be nice for them to win, but in the grand scheme of things it really isn't that important. If the Cubs losing makes you mad then for your own good stop watching.

I think it is hilarious to see all these goofs in the stands who look like their mothers just died. Please people, this is not that serious.

Steve, your optimism is annoying. The Cubs just got embarrased at home, and yet you really think they are going to go on the road and win 2 in a row and bring this thing back to Wrigley and then actually win it?

I am usually an optimist, but this takes the cake.

Steve I loved (yes passed tense) as much as any "loyal Cub Fan" , but this is NEVER going to happen. It may never happen as long a we all live. Complete and total embarrassment. I can't waste another moment watching this franchise after last night. R.I.P. CUBS!

I honestly don't care what they do. The only way they get my attention back is to be playing a game 5 back in Wrigley...but that will not happen because this team is mentally defeated & weak.

They were uptight for the first two games AT HOME, now they're scared they'll get swept and be uptight again.Cubs get shut out on Saturday.

Cubs get shut out and ALMOST no-hit on Saturday. Lee finds a way to hit into a double play with no one on base. Harden's arm literally falls off in the third inning, Ramirez tries to help and pick it up, but drops it.

At least it's on pretty late so I won't have to watch it.

You have a choice to make-life is about choices (kinda sound like Da Coach there) ...You can look at this situation and choose to focus on the fact that the Cubs had the best record in the League, had a winning record on the road, will have less pressure on them on the road and have an exceptionally good pitcher starting for them tonight....or you can focus on the first 2 games of the series that were unfortunate and provided a mathematical improbability for them to prevail in the series. Joe Torre has experience leading teams to disaster after being on the brink of clinching a series (Boston/Yankees). I will not give up hope. Not because I'm stubborn (though I am) as much as I think this is a darn good team. They just need to get back to playing like it.

Hey Steve, hows that big blue train going? And didn't you used to end your posts talking about some kind of party? About how there is some kind of wait that is going to end? Is that still happening?

What all ther "experts" say is that winning baseball is about pitching and defense and in the first two games of this series the Cubs have done both as poorly as one could imagine. That being said, it wouldn't surprise me if they go to 5 games. Three game winning streaks are no big deal in the big leagues. Whether or not they have the mental wherewithall to put these first two games behind them is another issue - they couldn't have tried to play any worse.

Maybe they play hard but it appears that a number of players on this team cannot stand the limelight or the pressure of a postseason, Lee included.

Its one thing if this is your first go around in the playoffs, but the Cubs don't have this excuse. Maybe the Cubs need a few more lunatics like Zambrano or what the Red Sox had in 2004 (players with a few screws looose) because what the Cubs have right now is not cutting it.

bill simmons wrote something like that in his piece about manny. that manny was the true "idiot" and thats exactly the kind of guys they needed. guys who are more into their beards and taking shots before games then what the fenway faithful or boston globe might write if they lose.

i think theres something to this. obviously these cub players feel the pressure in the playoffs. maybe you need some "idiots" like 04 red sox

but on the other hand schilling had a big hand in that run and he is the exact opposite of the so called "idiots"

guess its worth a shot. they have absolutely positively nothing to lose.

couple other things...

zambrano is the only cub the last 2 years who showed up at all in the playoffs.

d lee got real old real fast and is missing his greenies i suspect.

aramis ramirez is a core piece but cant be the guy. he acutally hit well in 03 playoffs when he was playing 3rd fiddle to alou and sosa

ryan theriot is NOT a short stop i know they won 97 games with him but his weak arm ALWAYS seems to help an opposing teams rally

i remember thinking as a kid they would have to win one eventually that was 1987. im starting to wonder if my kids or grandkids will see it

im 28 they ve made the playoffs 6 times in my life...i guess thats better than no playoff appearances for 39 years but the divisional playoffs help that so whatever i dont know.

i used to get real pissed at every cub loss...2003 slaugtered my fandom 2004 put 6 bullets in the head of the 2003 fandom carcas that was left...since then im happy if they win and just laugh when they lose...its a better way to deal with these losers for me and im glad they dont determine my mood for half the year anymore but...

FUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

the worst part is with the national league is on a 10 year run as the inferior league and the cubs going in with 97 wins, clinching early, everybody healthy...i dont see how they could be set up any better and still...they choke

fuck em.

THEY WILL LOSE

The Big Blue Party Train was just refueling. They are stoking the fire today, getting ready to get back on track, full steam ahead. So watch out, stay off the tracks so you don't get run over. Besides, you don't want to invite that bad Karma over to the South side AGAIN, do you?

you obviously did not purchase season tickets, or you would not feel that way. Even though you didn't, if you're a real Cubs fan you have made an investment of your time in watching their games...the public calls it sport, but if salaries exceeding 1M are the norm, I would say this is far from sport. Any other profession that pays that kind of salary for that level of work would likely be a very serious profession. Try again.
