What PFF said about that group...probably can be taken with a grain of salt...but, anyway.

31. CHICAGO BEARS
Projected Starting Lineup
LT: Larry Borom
LG: Cody Whitehair
C: Lucas Patrick
RG: Sam Mustipher
RT: Teven Jenkins
While there’s some reason for optimism for Chicago's two second-year tackles and the leaps they could make, that optimism isn’t based on what they put on tape last year. Larry Borom earned a 61.4 overall grade on 633 snaps, while Teven Jenkins recorded a 47.5 overall grade on 160 snaps. They’ll need to make enormous improvements for this to be an even average tackle duo.

Very hard to gauge Oline play until you see them in a preseason game, but it would seem that given the poor level of coaching they got last year that one could hope for a bit of improvement, but it's highly likely you see at least one of the draft picks play a substantial number of snaps.

Another terrible day for Fields. Hopefully, he's learning from these lumps.

Not just Fields. Jenkins has apparently been getting beaten consistently by undrafted rookie free agents and the wide receivers are dropping balls more frequently than pubescent boys. The whole offense is a disaster.

Jenkins has a mean streak, but it sounds like he's lazy and may not be very bright.

Everyone's praising Jones.

I simply don't see how they can go to war with Mustipher at OG. He was getting pushed around as a center. Now they moved him to arguably the position on the line that requires the most strength. I know their blocking system doesn't require power as much as speed.

A good day for Fields and the offense. I like the unscripted approach by Eberflus.

Quinn a no-show. Thayer didn't know if it was contract related or simply a veteran who didn't want to go through the drills in the heat. He better not be holding out for more money based on one good year, after being a total no-show the previous season.

Isn't the most logical assumption that he wants to be traded to a playoff team rather than playing for a bottom feeder?

Heard Grote on the Score talking about this yesterday. He seemed to think that maybe Poles told Quinn to not show up and that they would be working on finding a trade for him that both sides would be happy with.

Yeah, I imagine Poles tried but there wasn't much interest.

You have to remove the yellow and green stains from your windows to see clearly. I recommend CLR.

Twitter gives you an interesting snapshot of the Bears local media coverage.

Bears blogosphere is over the top positive about everything...Poles, Eberflus, Fields....no one can make a wrong step and any critical comments are dismissed.

The Athletics' Fishbain and ESPN's Cronin refuse to be critical. For example, if a Bears QB throw a pick, they mention the defensive back that made the play, not the QB who threw the pass.

Bears beat writers Biggs and Widerer on the other hand name the player that makes the mistake and aren't afraid to be critical. As a result, Bears twitter seems to dismiss them as haters.

No team has any members of the media hammering their players for what they did in mini camp. That's reserved for training camp, preseason games, and for the regular season.

The process has been discussed numerous times here, local media types need access to the team, so they give fawning coverage in an effort to curry favor with the team, on must keep in mind that these are fanboy/fangirl types that have been willing to work for years making very little money to work covering the team so they already have skin in the game and are not going to risk losing their place. The ones that are physically attractive will get snapped up to do national work, the newspaper route to columnist and decent pay is for the most part gone, and even the local sports talk radio route that Uncle Terry took is limited, plus they are all afraid to show any personality, so becoming the next Mike North is also impossible, come to think of it the current state of affairs for a local member of the "Bears Media" is not that great.

According to Hoge and Fishbain, his performance during the recently concluded minicamp made it clear that Mooney is "far and away" the best receiver on the roster.

Jones has been somewhat inconsistent in his ability to catch the ball, though he apparently is able to get separation pretty frequently. The other receivers haven't been able to do that so far. Dante Pettis has been the third best receiver (10 receptions for the Giants last year) and has been a level or two better than Pringle or St. Brown.

What a terrible collection of players.

Pringle is a fairly proven commodity. I wouldn't worry about him. He'll be fine in the slot as a #3.

It can't be worse than 2017 because Mooney is a legit NFL receiver, and Jones appears to be useful. I'm still optimistic but I would pick Metcalf up for the airport in Seattle if they could make a trade for him.

Based on the second-to-last Hoge and Jahns podcast, it sounds like the offensive line has been really bad. According to Hoge, there's a jailbreak on almost every play. If this continues, Fields will be injured by the second game of the season.

I'm not believing the reports on Jones until I see him play in an NFL game. Right now he's is playing decently in limited contact drills. According to Hoge, Jahns and Fishbain, it's difficult to tell if he's all that good or the rest of the receivers--with the exception of Mooney--are just plain bad.

Oh, and it sounds like Fields has been awful through much of the offseason as well. Hoge and Fishbain both seem surprised he's not further along.
