I have a relative who’s drinking the kool aid on Braxton Jones.

It’s going to be a rough landing for some when the season starts and they’re reminded the Bears aren’t even trying to win.

The kid did have some success in college. MANY are projecting what they think he will be in a year or two.

It's significant that Hoge, Fishbain and even Jahns are acknowledging that Fields has been somewhat disappointing throughout the minicamps/OTAs since they were all such enthusiastic backers of his last season. They won't admit to doubting Fields just yet, but they're certainly not as confident in him as they once were.

Hoge and Fishbain have mentioned that Fields has struggled with accuracy. I wonder if that's due to the changes he's made in his footwork and throwing motion.

Olin showing why he's worth that $15 per hour and Teven might be better served just to avoid the media for now.

OK:” “…if you can’t talk about that just tell us, but your feeling on running with the twos this past couple of weeks and them trying out Braxton Jones at left tackle”

TJ: “Yeah…I probably wouldn’t talk about (mumbled as he goes on)

OK: “Don’t worry about it man, I’ll speak for you, I woulda been pissed off (laughs), I would not have been happy about it, but like you are saying you are just doing your work and trying to get back to that first string.

TJ: “Yeah, exactly, exactly”

If you go in and listen to the audio, there is a long pause where Jenkins appears as though he thinks about saying something, and probably realizes it is best to say nothing.

It's rare to get a guy with LT skills where they got him but I highly doubt he is ready to start in year 1.

Yeah, it's probably best to withhold comment on your demotion when, as has been reported, you are routinely being beaten in practice by a rookie free agent and a 5th-round rookie defensive end.

Limited stuff on him against high level competition, but the video from him at the Senior Bowl, which is likely the cause of the optimism, showed a guy with some solid feet and freakishly long arms, two traits that are essential for LT success, but he also seemed to struggle with power, which NFL DE/OLBs will quickly notice. Will get a good read once pads go on to see if he has worked on this, he has ideal physical traits for LT, but will take a year or two of NFL level strength and technique work to fully develop his potential.

The sad thing is that the way the roster is currently constructed, a raw 5th round rookie may be the best option at LT.

He was interviewed last week, I think on 1000, and acknowledged that he was learning a new way to deal with power and that in college he didn't have the best technique.

I expect that if he does start at LT, he's going to get a lot of work in preseason games.

Nagy couldn't figure out how to run a practice in 4 years.

This stuff just pisses me off, all the local media loved Nagy and went out of their way to cover for him, not sure if that was due to ineptness or being lazy at their jobs, but this all had to be well known.

Why in the hell did ownership bring him back last year? The entire BS about the team having as Bernstein and Hub often called it, "the best culture in the NFL", was idiocy, hearing guys talk about how they all laughed at Nagy and thought he was a phony rah-rah guy that couldn't even run a practice in which guys knew where to line up and had a coaching staff full of NFL rejects that set back player development years.

This all has exposed George/Ted as a hapless goofs who are easily fooled by Nagy types with the "Be You" crap, but is even more damning for guys like Hub, Bernstein, Parkins, Holmes, and Spiegs whose NFL thoughts look at best incompetent at this point.

anyone who saw the ineptitude of the team after an extended break knew what was happening

They were horrible in first quarters. Bye weeks seemed to be two week vacations. Heck, they were disorganized even after timeouts. Any time Nagy was given time to think, the team was worse.

Alternatively, they always seemed good in situations where he wasn't able to ponder.

There are a few people that think the offense will be surprising this year because the coaching will be light years better than last year.

The problem is that the former coaching staff was borderline incompetent at self-scouting, so you do not have realistic grades on the guys on offense. There is also all kinds of stuff about the old oline coach teaching terrible techniques and wanting guys to gain 20-30 pounds, really has to be frustrating for the new OC because who knows if any of last years guys can move well enough to be fits in the outside zone scheme he wants to run.

Will be interesting to see if the team can line up and run its base offense in preseason games, you will be able to see quickly who is and who is not a fit, could be some high picks that are sitting on the sideline relatively early next year.

I wonder what he got caught doing. He was supposed to be pretty well liked.

Yeah, somebody had to have been naughty. This is very "un-Bears". It will break soon enough.

And he was on the committee that hired Poles/Flus this year.

Strange indeed.

It would have to be something pretty extreme like impregnating a McCaskey GrandDaughter.

That happened to a high ranking H-D exec who was hand-picked to ascent to CEO....knocked up the daughter of a long-standing member of the Board of Directors....oops.

I'm thinking Soup did something pretty bad here.

FROM THE ARTICLE COMMENTS SECTION...

LaMar was on the committee that ultimately recommended Poles for the job, but he was NOT onboard with the committees ultimate choice, and this is the fallout from that. He didn’t back the candidate that ultimately got the job, and now he’s done it’s as simple as that

If true, then the firing and the way it was done, along with when it was done, is extremely lame-o

Yeah if that is the real story then that is completely stupid. You want people with dissenting voices on such a committee. You don't want a bunch of yes men afraid to rock the boat.
