I think it's OK to have this thread here. This will be the Sox next opponent.

We want the Red Sox to win for 2 reasons.

1. They are the weaker team.

2. Red Sox are the Wild Card team. We get home field advantage if we play them. Doesn't matter that they had more wins than us.

Red Sox have Dice-K who has the White Sox still swinging and missing at his stuff.

I'd rather the Halos. 3 complete games there again.

I think the Angel pitchers have handled us well. Lackey and Weaver are tough. I know we won 2 out of 3, against the Angels, at the Cell, a month ago but I'd still like to get the Red Sox.

They are both tough teams. It won't be easy against either. Who knows? You might be right, Frank.

There is a section for this in MLB. You might want to take this one game at a time, big guy.

Both teams will be prohibitive favorites against the white sox. I'll just worry about game 1 tonight.

Although the Anaheim Angels dominated the regular season vs. the Boston Red Sox, believe it or not, TBS Sports' PBP Chip Caray said it best when Jason Bay smacked the game-winning homer in the top 6th off losing pitcher John Lackey in Game 1. Once the ball landed in the left field bullpen, Chip said, "Manny who?" The defending World Champions have now won 10 consecutive postseason games, and seem to be formidable once again for a potential repeat. The Angels better find a way to solve Matsuzaka tomorrow night in Game 2, or this series could be history by the end of the weekend...

Based on tonight's pitching match up, the Red Sox will be heading home with a 2-0 series lead.

Matsuzaka went 9-0 in 13 road starts this season, compiling a 2.37 ERA and .178 opponent batting average.
Santana at home this season, 5-5 with a 4.03 ERA in 15 starts

Dice-K has an innate ability (unlike Dempster) to walk the bases loaded and get out of it. From the games I watched him pitch this year he got out of more jams than anyone I can remember. His line usually reads 6IP, 3H, 2R, 6BB, 3K

Just always seems to walk a lot. I think hitters need to be a LOT more disciplined when it comes to him. He barely throws any strikes and depends on hitters to swing at a lot of garbage.

I think it finally unravels for him tonight and he gives up 4 or 5. Santana has had a great year. I'm taking the Angels to even it back up

This is one of those weakness vs. weakness matchups.
The Angels are 12th in the AL in taking walks & 11th in OBP.
They like to swing the bats and put the ball in play.
If that holds true, than Boston's defense which was tied for 1st in Fielding % and only commited 85 errors this year could be the diciding factor.
either way, DiceK is pretty familiar with working from the stretch.

While the Indians' Cliff Lee will likely win the A.L. Cy Young Award, "Dice-K" of the Red Sox should also receive consideration. As the White Sox found out first hand, "Dice-K" was just as tough on opposing hitters as Cliff.

Jason Bay has done it again, fans. He smacked a three-run homer to highlight a 4-run top of the 1st vs. Ervin Santana & Anaheim. The Red Sox have an early lead, and "Dice-K" is one tough hombre to deal with!

Cubs and Angels are the shocker. Especially cuz they both lost their first two at home. Jeez. The entire first round could be over by Suday.

It's funny. Cuz the ALCS and NLCS start dates are set. Doesn't matter if everybody sweeps. We'll have 4 or 5 days off before the next round begins even if every series is over in 3 games.
